I Did The Mercy Run But Still Had To Fight Asgore

I did the mercy run- didn't kill anyone and this stuff but I still had to fight Asgore- why?
And it's the first time I play Undertale on my new computer altho I played it on my last computer

In the Asgore fight you have to attack him, whatever run. It doesn't affect the pacifist run (there's more after the Asgore fight), you have to fight him. This is one of the only two times you have to fight in Pacifist (that I know of).

you can attack monsters i belive you can't just kill them

In order to get the pacifist ending, on top of not killing anyone you also have to complete a chain of side quests with Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys.

For the Alphys one to become available you have to beat the final boss of the neutral route once. Beating the boss does however carry over to consecutive runs until you complete either pacifist or genocide.

I would say continue forward and get the neutral ending. After the boss you can continue your save and backtrack to check for which side quest you need to do.

The side quests will lead you to the True Lab which you enter from inside Alphys’s Lab. Going through the True Lab is the only way to get the pacifist ending.

yeah if a monster has low HP you can spare them but its just reccommended to use ACT as there is a chance they can just inta die

Fleeing also counts as sparing.

Every monster does however have a special “best” way of sparing that turns their name yellow during the pacifist credits, and gives you a different description for them. Unfortunately, you don’t get anything else special for doing it for every monster.

You have to date alphys and beat true lab
How to date alphys?
Date undyne, defeat OF *omega flowey* reload your save, go to mtt resort, before entering you will get a call from undyne that she wants to send a letter for alphys, go to snowdin, get that letter, go to alphys lab, and send it.
to date undyne you have to date papyrus, after sparing him, go to his house and talk with him

Thanks everyone, but I have another question: A year ago I did the pacifist ending and Toriel came and saved me from Asgore, so why does when I do it now Toriel won't save me?

Toriel only saves you if you go to Asgore through the True Lab. If you go there the other way, you are ALWAYS going to get the neutral ending.

Another factor (for those playing the game for the very first time) is:

The "pacifist ending" simply WILL NOT unlock on your first playthrough. You must defeat the Final Boss and watch the credits roll before you can access the sidequest that leads to the pacifist ending.
