Chara's gender is never stated ingame and as far as I know its intentional. So its whatever gender you want them to be.

Just like Frisk and Kris from Deltarune, Chara’s gender ambiguous, whatever the player decides is right.

However many players like to think that Chara is female because if you pronounce it like the name ‘Kara’ (the pronunciation is up to debate) then it would seem odd for them to be male, I’ve never heard of a man named Kara and would probably laugh at any man with such a name.

No, I already disproved my theory because I was reading too much into what people said. I was thinking that in a genocide route Frisk was a female (If Chara was a female, like I thought they were, Frisk would be 'channeling' Chara) because Sans said "Gee lady, you know how to pick them". I then had a friend explain that Sans was talking about Toriel. So the question is now invalid but it's nice to know that Chara is genderless.

Your theory (if I understand it) seems to be correct, except for the bit about Sans, that is 100% about Toriel.

I know, but in the original theory I had, what sans said was kinda my only proof, therefore making It mean nothing. oh well. Its a cool idea to me, but it still makes frisk genderless
