Why can't you fight shopkeepers? --theory question--
Think about it for a moment.

It's referenced by gerson, and it's highly apparent on the genocide route.
You can fight npcs; as shown by monster kid.

So what makes shopkeepers so special.

There are plenty of games where you can't fight the shopkeepers.
But, in Undertale, rpg elements are a part of what makes up the game.
(eg, the save mechanic.)

Taking this in mind, what in-game reason would cause this.
Good luck solving the puzzling puzzle that's left me puzzled. :papyrus:

True. But that wouldn't stop you from killing someone and stealing all the loot.

Shopkeeps know to prepare to prevent thieves forcibly taking their inventory, so they put up hidden magical barriers to pacify would-be unruly customers to remove the desire and ability to cause trouble and then physical barriers and fight-proof glass around the checkout and item display areas that are so strong the shopkeeper doesn't even notice the feeble attempts to engage them in a fight.

I find it unlikely that burgerpants would be able to create something like that.
Gerson, mabye...

Still, you can't fight burgerpants, either...

4 wall breaking, the game is made that way, gerson knows it and use it to his benefit

is that simple, really
first, they evacuated with alphys (before frisk reaches snowdin),
gerson on the other hand,
idk about him, maybe he has something valuable in the shop.

Yeah, But you've never state dexactly what he used to his benifit, the shop gui?
By the time you hit snowdin, they aren't in their shops anymore, correct?

Maybe they know they'll be a target because they have "the bullets and the bandages". If the human needs weapons and healing, they won't want to give it to them, and they know they're dead meat then. So instead of staying behind to hide thier stuff they evacuated???

Ah, that's only the first shop, the rest of the shops still have their shopkeepers...
You do realize that shopkeeper invulnerability is just an aspect of all games that include a shopkeeper, right?
