Stuck at very beginning
Ok, I feel stupid for asking this because apparently everyone completes this game without any help - but here it is: how do I get past Toriel's house? Every time I sleep the game tells me to wake up because I'm the last chance for humans and monsters, but there just doesn't seem to be anything for me to do...

There's a pie that I don't dare to eat, some frogs who give helpful advice, and lots of monster encounters that are starting to get really annoying because I'm just running around without knowing where to go or what to do :-(.

Talk to Goat Mom about leaving house, and she will run downstairs. Follow her.

Yeah, I've heard "stay determined" quite a few times... I just hope I'll be saying it to people too at some point.

I already talked to Goat Mom and went downstairs, I'm stuck after that. We fought, I ran away.

Don't run. You have to either kill her or spare her; and remember what one of those froggits said: Sparing can do things even if your opponent's name isn't yellow.

Duh. After walking all the way back to the start and forwards again, I evenually figured it out. Forget about the spare part though. Feel bad now.

well... thisis a game. As long as you didn't save after killing her, you can go back and try again.(and even if you did save, you can do a full reset to try again) ;)

Talk to Toriel and ask her how to leave the ruins. When she leaves the room, go down the stairs. Continue on from there.

Talk to toriel about leaving the ruins, you might have to do it a couple times, then she will leave downstairs. Follow her down.

fight her again, but finish the fight.

You can't continue until you beat Goat Mom. I suggest killing her the first playthrough & trying to spare as much as you can.
You'll want to play through again after this playthrough, but try to spare as many monsters as you can. I won't tell you why, but it's quite difficult to play on True Pacifist the first time without an understanding as to why (which you will get at the end of the game).
