How to unequip weapon and armor after fight?

I just beat Undyne during the genocide route, now I'm in Hotland and about to fight Mettaton, but don't know how to unequip the Ballerina Shoes and the Clouded Glasses... Any answers?

You have to have an item. So you can switch it out, but not take it off.

I don't believe there's a way to unequip stuff so you have nothing, you'll have to replace the weapon and armor instead

Mettaton NEO isn't hard, you can kill him in one hit.

im doing genocide run and im currently at hotlands there are 6 monsters left which im trying to grind but they dont appear for me? what do i do?
