HELP! I lost ALL my saved data (26 hours)
I was at the genocide path end boss fight (don't want to spoil) and I went to go eat something so I shut off my computer and when I came back, turned it on again and launched the game it said for the first time ever that I needed to log into steam before playing and putting in my password. I did so and once the game booted up it brought me to the VERY FIRST screen with flowey where it tells you all the controls and asks you to pick your name. I went back to check my data on steam and it says I still have 26 hours on it with my save file. But I have no save.... even though I think I still have the save FILE

P.S (I think it's worth mentioning I got the game off family share but I don't think it has anything to do with that since the person that was sharing wasn't online at the time)

I checked again and it still says I have 27 hours on the game but everytime I open it, it brings me to the VERY beginning of the game

Some games are connected to the Steam cloud, so you should try completely closing Steam and opening it back up.You can do this by closing Steam, opening Task Manager(right-click on taskbar)and look for a process named "Steam client bootstrapper", right click on it and press "End task".

Undertale Save Files aren't connected to the cloud. Your save files are stored on your computer.

This isn't a steam issue. It's a your-save-most-likely-got-corrupted issue.

C:/users/owner/appdata/local/UNDERTALE

Check if you even have files in that folder.

More likely than not though you'll have to either start over, or download someone else's save and put it in that folder.

I opened up the folder and I still have what seems to be 3 save files named: file0, file8, file9. Along with 2 other files in the UNDERTALE folder which are the "playerachievementcache.dat" and "undertale (configuration settings)"

Weird... I was on the Sans fight and I lost all my data... strange. I'm stumped.

If you leave Chara alone for too long after the Genocide boss battle, then she erases your world. If you have no Idea what or who I'm talking about, Chara (The first human to fall to the underground) will erase your save file after the boss fight. She says the world is pointless, and to erase it. Does your PC have multiple user accounts? Are you using the same user account as you did before?

That isn't what Mr. Clean means. Mr. Clean was at the Sans fight, and they went to get something to eat after shutting down the computer. Mr. Clean returned to their computer, only to find their save data at the beginning of the game, yet it still says they've played 26 hours.

Odd.

Well I'm unsure if there is any way to repair corrupted saves.

What you can do though is download someone else's save and continue from there.

Someone made a handy compilation of saves through every point in the game.

Some things may be different from your previous save file, but you can probably edit the file as needed.

when ever someone does genocide nutral or pasafist the characters remember...you can either use this to see if it saved or not or just do unlimited genocides with noone remembering

It's xxxxxxx time I notice interesting detail everytime human does genocide route timeline getting unstable and even if it's only for moment it's enough
... It's perfect chance to make a difference this time.
Sans... He consider himself a clever one he think what he does is the right thing it is, however it is all playground I arranged through instability of timelife to control he's body and I will get rid of this human. Now let's see what you can do this time.
