Why I hate Sans (Rant)

I. Hate. Sans. First of all, I don't understand what makes him so special. So what if he has a hard boss fight and makes crappy puns? There are so many other characters with deeper backstories and more personality, but everyone has to love Sans. Second, so many people ship him with their OC or just them in general. WHY?! He has no redeeming qualities, yet so many people make fanart or Sans x Reader fanfictions. I'm just fed up with not being able to go anywhere on the Internet without finding Sans. Just stop talking about Sans. I swear if I find one more Sans fangirl/fanboy, I am going to throw my computer across the room. Goodnight.

If you don't care, why bother commenting? Also, Steam was made for game discussions, so I am perfectly qualified to talk about a character of the game about which I am making a thread.

While Sans is not my favorite character by any means, I do like him. His boss battle is the only one in the game I could die more than a couple times on anymore, the fight reveals his facade and hidden backstory. Using the knowledge you get from the fight, and play through the game again, and you call Papyrus in Alphys' lab, Papyrus will reveal to you that Sans has had the dog food bad in his room, so you could infer he has been feeding the amalgamites. It's just little things like the thing I mentioned that hint at Sans' backstory that becomes much more clear once you play both pacifist and genocide.

Another thing I like about him is that I like the idea of being so smart he could not only predict that you can reset, but also predict what happened in said timelines. For instance death counter in genocide and he can tell you heard him before in pacifist and neutral. That concept's intresting to me.

So overall I like Sans but I don't let the community's Undying (heh heh) love and obsession of him lead me to overhype him or drive me to hate him, like in the case of you.

Wow... this is actually a great description of your opinion on the character and, while I still hold a slight grudge, this comment has actually changed my thought process and opinion to be slightly more positive, for which I thank you. I applaud thee.

Wow... this is actually a great description of your opinion on the character and, while I still hold a slight grudge, this comment has actually changed my thought process and opinion to be slightly more positive, for which I thank you. I applaud thee.

I know there are more complex characters but I still like sans for his complexity. He is.. depressed. He knows that the timeline would reset after a happy ending or... genocide. How would you feel if you had freedom taken away from you all the time. Or seeing the one you love die. Over and over. It would break a person to no end. It would also reset their memories.. except yours. You are the only one that remembers it fully while others don't remember it. You can't talk about it to somebody because they will forget and even then it wouldn't make sense to them. You can't stop the human because you made a promise from another friend and it would be futile anyways as the human can come back alive and try again until they finally find a slip up and you die. That is what sans faces every single day. Suicide? Nope. RESET. So then he puts on a fake smile and pretends to become a joker. Pretending that he is happy and joyful even though he has alot of problems. Laughing off his true misery and PAIN. Although I do like flowey/asriel and Asgore more as characters. That is the reason why I like sans. Still though, it's your opinion! Be your own man! I'm just sharing mine.

Sans does not remember other timelines at all. Not even snipits of them. He knows what's going on in other timelines because he can deduct what's happened from what you have on your face, expressions and such. He know such, because if you've heard Sans' speech before on a neutral route, he mentions how your face looks bored. He also looses track of the deaths on genocide, even with a small number like 9 and 10. So his face reading skill is not perfect.

He either predicts them through science and his void science sh*t by going on LSD. IDK. Or he remembers resets a bittt more than normal. I mean every monster forgets it but not completely. Case in point toriel. If you pick your favorite pie flavor (bscotch or cinammon) and then reset. She remembers it. But not completely as it is just a feeling. Maybe sans uses his science and his remaining memories of the reset, connects the dots, then fully knows what you did. Maybe he installed an implant on himself to remember sh*t more easily. IDK.

I admit that online OC ships with sans are gross. My favorite character is Undyne, but i think sans is cool. You're perfectly entitled to this opinion, but can you mabe not vocalize it in a way likely to start a flame war?

why i like sans because he's logical
he never fights you in neutral/pacifict and i don't believe it's because of that promise
there's alot of mystery behind him that still got no answer
he's the only character besides flowey that is aware of timeline traveling
and space
he's experimenting to alot of things like mastering teleportation and space
because all he wants is to go back
i'm fully aware of the theories that says he's gaster
but that's just a theory all we know is that he wants to go back
so i assume he's trying to build some sort of time machine in the back of his house
he breaks 4th wall
he knows that everything is going to reset after that genocide route
the way he fights you is completely fair
because you broke the RBG law from the beggining of the game
by "dodging" enemies' attack
so he played fair by dodging yours'
he's a deep character and that's why i favour him
too sad that most undertale fans are retarded 10 year olds anime lovers
they love sans because
uuh he's cool and the hardest boss
and go ship him with toriel or their OC
seriously cancerous i feel bad for this game to have this fanbase
