Honestly, W A S D sucks. Like, why the hell does it even exist in the first place?

I think there's a 3rd party program you can use, but personally heres what I did:
1: Get a Ps4 Controller (helped since I owned a Ps4)
2: Get a charger that fits your Ps4 Controller (those $5 cheap ones work)
3: Plug it in to your Laptop/Gaming Device
4: You can now play with joystick, buttons, and d-pad.

It's not simpler, using z and x are next to each others and make really confortable pose.

Imo WASD is only good if the control scheme uses a mouse.

That's why I had to change Shovel Knight's controls immediately.

Plenty of emulators use them. This game's control scheme resembles one.

The whole point of using the arrow keys is it's supposed to be like classic PC gaming. Back when that was the normal control scheme.

There should be 2 different control schemes. 1 for arrows and 2 for wasd, so you get to choose. There could also be an option to remap the entire control setup.

There really isn't any point in making the control scheme WASD if the game doesn't use the mouse.

Because mouse control is the whole reason WASD movement became a thing.

I actually prefer wasd because Im used to it but I just reprogramed some keys temporarily to play

Actually, if the game doesnt use mouse at all, WASD suck and arrows are sustantially better.

Undertale dont use the mouse.
