Does Flowey remember the Geno run? (SPOILERS)
So a while back (a WHILE back) I did a Geno run to fight Undyne and Sans, just to see how hard they really are. Eventually I got to Sans and beat him multiple times out of bordom. Well, if you have done the Geno run, you know that Flowey confronts you before the Sans fight and becomes scared.

Well, my computer had to be reset so I lost my save file some how. When I started a new game and got to Flowey after escaping the Ruins, his dialouge was different than what it would be after starting a new run.

So my question is, does he remember that encounter?

BTW, I don't think I ever actually went into the throne room. If I did, is this a sign that I lost my in-game soul?

The genocide run isn't complete until you enter the throne room and complete all the dialogue within it. So from a technical standpoint you still have your in-game soul as you never truly completed the run.

Flowey always has special dialogue for resetting and talking to him again. I'm not sure if he has anything specific to killing him in genocide then resetting, you'd have to tell me.

Save files are tied to your machine and aren't stored on the steam cloud. The steam cloud oddly only stores one specific genocide-related file. Meaning if you reset your machine you lose your saves, and if you play on another machine you have to transfer the files manually.

soooo what happened? If steam doesn't keep save files, why did Flowey have different dialogue?

Hmm...that's a good question.

You sure you didn't just reset in-game? Hitting the reset button will wipe most of your file but still keep a few specific things.

Maybe it had something to do with the FUN factor?

So you're telling me that you had a file before the Sans fight, your computer got reset, and then when you opened the game you didn't have a file to load? But Flowey remembered you anyways?

Strange if so.

that is exactly what happened
I might still have that save (the newer one) at a place before the flowey ruins encounter, maybe I could check (unless i deleted it)

It seems like the game flagged your computer resetting like an in-game reset.

It most likely starts over, but keeps your previous playthrough data. I know reinstalling doesn't get rid of the genocide consequences.
