PLEASE HELP! I THINK MY GAME IS BROKEN!

So I was playing, and I saved my game at this certain spot so if I run into a fight, I can just start over there, right? I end up getting into a fight, and dying, but! instead of starting over at that savepoint, the screen goes black with nothing but the Annoying Dog and some music. I tried to just close out the window and open the game up again, but it started me all the way over to the beginning.

When this happened, I tried to see if I could just start anew, but it won't save when I get to the savepoints.

It really sucks, too, because I had been working on the pacifist route after I had went for the genocide route. Now everything is gone.

Anything I can do to fix this?

Well, first of all, Your ending is going to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ if you actually finished the genocide route before pacfist. Secondly, I'm pretty sure this means you are missing game files if you get the black dog screen. Could you post a screenshot of it so I can make sure we are talking about the same error?

Try deleting and resintalling. You won't lose your progress if you still have any, because it syncs to Steam Cloud. If this doesn't work, then you are currently in an invalid room ID IIRC, which is a lot harder to fix.

I ended up going into one of it's files and I deleted everything. It's fixed now, but I have to start over. It's all good, though. Thank you so much! <3

No problem. Don't be worried about saving before boss fights in the future, you probably had a file corruption (totally random, and it just happened to affect Undertale) rather than the game actually glitching out.

i don't know that seems more entertaning then the real game

OMG YOU KNOW WHAT?! I wasn't doing genocide I was on a neutral run. Now I'm playing the genocide route after replaying as pacifist and I feel soooooooooooo bad. But I think that after starting over, I'm good now lol.
