Gaster is a troll character put there by Toby fox to give something theorists to rave about.
This just may be the truth
AND if it is...
Toby, You ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ genius.
No real evidence, but it's something I just thought of that is a bit interesting.
Sans is there when gaster (and others most likely) falls into the core and does the drawing saying don't forget to keep himself from forgetting gaster like everyone else. The picture is probably sans with the other scientists that most likely fell into the core too.The blueprints have writing in wing dings and they are for the machine hidden behind the curtain. A machine Sans WAS building to save Gaster. He gave up on it though after the resets started happening. He lets you see the secret room after messing with you and knowing for certain your the one reseting. He's trying to convince you to stop so he can continue trying to save gaster.
Well thats all i got.
-While personally I prefer to beleive G is Sans' and Papy's dad, there are also many who believe him to be a third, possibly eldest, brother.
-We don't know for sure that G is a skeleton, however strong evidence points to this being the case (Wing Dings, general appearance, references to G surrounding Sans, etc).
-It's pretty likely that Sans was G's lab assistant and/or partner, considering his secret laboratory and the knowledge he has of both Timelines and Resets.
-The allusions to G's unfortunate fate are vague, but certainly intiguing. Most believe he fell into the Core, which would be his 'creation' or 'experiment' that went wrong. I'm curious, however, that if this is the case, who fixed the Core afterwards so it would remain stable? Sans, perhaps?
-Considering the easter eggs invovling G (the loop, the theme, the fun value), I hear a lot of people speculating that he was originally meant to have more importance in the game, but was scrapped for any number of reasons. While there is the alternate side, which has been pointed out on this thread, that he is simply a troll by Toby Fox, I'm more inclined to believe the former because of the amount of evidence to his existance. Besides, this game is all about secrets, and you never know the whole story unless to do it all... Of course there would be a character like G in there.
There's more, of course...
In th 20 years that Rick (from another dimension) went missing he was making ovenless brownies. But when he was mixing the chemicals some other ones spulled in, turning the ovenless brownies into toxic fumes that turn people into monsters. Rick got into his vehicle and tried to stop the fumes but after a few hours everyone was a monster. Knowing that he had screwed up he got out of his vehicle and made a portal to another dimension, but the fumes followed him, turning him into Gaster.
The dimension that he traveled to was the Undertale dimension. Then he saw a portal behind him. A skeleton walked out and Gaster Rick introduced himself as Rick. The skeleton also introduced himself as Rick (who had come from a dimension where he turned into a skeleton). The fumes had wrecked both of their portal guns so they walked forward together into a town known as Snowdin and agreed to help each other create a cure for turning back into humans.
Sans found Papyrus and introduced himself as his brother Sans. Papyrus was please to have a brother and being himself didn't question Sans.
Gaster continued on to Asgore and told him that he was a great scientist known as Gaster. He said he would help the king escape the underground.
The next few months Sans and Gaster worked on the true lab, so they could have a place to work in private. They created the core as a high powered device to break the barrier. When the core didn't work Gaster went to Asgore. Asgore told him that 7 human souls were the only thing that could destroy the barrier. This gave Gaster an idea. If he could give his soul human properties he could become human!
Gaster started experimenting and developed DT. He wanted to test it on someone else before on him and Sans. This is why he did the experiment found in the true lab. When it failed Gaster committed suicide by jumping into the core.
Meanwhile, Sans had turned the portal guns into a dimensional travel device which can be found in his house but the wrecked portal gun parts just didn't work like it was supposed to. Instead it allowed Sans to time travel. With Gaster dead all Sans could do was wait for 7 humans to fall down and have their souls taken by Asgore.
Sans time travelled to right after the barrier was broken. He quickly went back to human civilization and found the Rick of his dimension. He told the Rick to take the time travel device to the council of Ricks, knowing that the true reset would happen soon. This is why all Ricks have a box of time travel stuff in their garages.
still aggressively unfunny
yes you are
