Undertale

Frisk DID save Asriel after all! ASRIEL'S OKAY!
One of the most confusing things in the game is figuring out what Asriel's motive is.

Flowey wants to see Chara again, but Asriel doesn't wanna do anything outside of putting on a light show in hopes of killing Frisk. Asriel mentions wanting to reset back to zero, but this is at odds with his desire to see Chara. Especially since resetting means doing the game all over again, fighting Frisk again, and then going back to the begining over and over.

Asriel doesn't want to reset to the begining of Undertale, he wants a do-over of when the humans killed him. This time, he'll kill them. This way he can have Chara forever since the two of them are basically conjoined.

The problem is that this won't end well, he'll kill the humans and become a bigger badder monster. More humans will attack him.... he'll break the barrier... the Monsters will be horrified at this and Asriel will kill them.

Proof? When Flowey gets the six human souls and control of the timeline the new Undertale opening says "One day humans and monsters... mysteriously dissapeared." and when we see Flowey's save file his LV is maxed out...the implication is that Flowey has killed everyone in the world.

Frisk defeats Asriel and then Asriel stays behind in the underground.... The barrier is gone, once Asriel turns back into Flowey, Flowey can easily kill seven humans and become a God again. The thing is, he doesn't want to.... he has some of his empathy back.

One day Flowey will have all of his empathy back... and on that day he will be Asriel again. When this is the case, the barrier isn't there, he can just leave the underground. This day may not be tomorrow, or the day after, or even a day in Frisk's lifetime. Still all the same, we'll be waiting for the return of Asriel Dreemurr.
