How is Sans so powerful?

There is a lot of mystery about Sans' character, so I've just thought about it and... you get stronger as you kill more monsters in the game... what if this is the answer to how Sans got so strong?

What if long long time ago Sans was actually once a bad guy? What do you think?

Well the "Killer Theory" about Sans have exist for more than quite a while now but if you consider the fact that he is like the weakest character with 1 Attack and 1 Defence. I like to think that the reason he is powerful is that he uses "KR" which is karma to bring down your health. So if he fights someone who has not sinned or inflicted any bad vibes sans probably will be crap against them

He knows how to hack the game's save data, hence how he talks to you in the "dirty hacker" ending.

He hacks the game. He hacks it to get no invincibility frames, do unfair attacks (like attacking you while you are in your button area), and his ability to dodge. KR, however, is either an attack he learned, or is a part of being a Judge.

If he hacked, couldn't he just change Frisk's stats and win easily?

Yes. He does only one point of damage and dies in one hit. He's pretty weak for a boss.

There's a theory that Sans can only be so difficult to beat if you have enough KARMA he can use against you. And somehow he seems to be more aware of the game mechanics than other monsters are, which is why he dodges your attacks and calls you a hacker if you change the game code.

He wouldn't need to change Frisk's stats. He only does 1 attack anyways, and only has 1 health.
