Overrated Characters

Beside him, who do you think is popular, and they don't deserve to be? Sans is understandable, because he is the final boss and some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ might think his puns are good.

I would say Muffet. Her battle is meh, she has almost no character, and I saw some people who thought that Muffet should have been fitted into the story more, like a main character or something. I just find that stupid.

Temmie is the most overrated enemy and people forget all the other enemies. She's my least favorite enemy. My favorite enemies are Madjick, Tsunderplane, and Snowdrake.

I agree what you said about Muffet. I thought I was the only one. Plus, she's a miniboss, not a boss.

Grillby is the most overrated NPC. He had no backstory explained and he's slient. My favorite NPCs are the Riverperson, Heats Flameman, the mouse and jester from Snowdin Town, the small bird from Waterfall, Clam Girl, and Snowdrake's father.

Toriel is a bit overrated compared to other characters, to a point where people just take what she says to heart. So many blindly hate Asgore without realizing that she is also a flawed character for attempting to avoid the issue of the monsters' imprisonment altogether by cutting herself off from the rest of the world. I think this player mindset is mostly due to the fact that she is the first friendly character you meet. So she leaves a large impression on the player's mind for the rest of the game.

W. D. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Gaster is VERY overrated.

He don't have official sprite and his backstory is very short. Still (almost) everybody thinks he is Sans's (and Papyrus's) boss, dad or boss-dad and was Alphys's teacher/boss who always speak Wind Dings and tries kill Frisk and/or Sans.
He can use green/red/purple/whatever Gaster Blaster, giant hands with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HOLES, ability to use souls and control space time continuum, only because he possibly stuck on there.
Only facts about him is: He created Core, he was Royal Scientist before Alphys, he have weird theme, he have MonsterTube 4 followers and he died/dissapeared with unclear way.

I wouldn't really consider asgore to be a major character. You don't really see much of him and most of the things you do know about him are the interpretations other characters make of his actions.

when you consider someone a major character, your saying the whole plot
not just what the player sees, asgore for example commits more to the plot instead of the player's perspective

Then in that case Gaster wouldn't be considered a major character like one of the previous posts said. He doesn't really do anything to the plot.
