They divorced because they disagredd on the plan to kill humans who fall underground.
Yeah which means that they were there for some humans
Chara was the first to fall down.No humans came before them.
Asgore made the plan right after Chara's and Asriel's death.

Well the different SOUL colors represent different character traits, and these traits correspond with how you befriend or defeat each boss that uses them. I don't really understand how the monsters can actively change the characteristic of your SOUL, or why they just so happen to do it in a way you can defeat them. This is one part of Undertale that just seems to be done for the sake of it being a game.

As for the idea of can a monster SOUL change colors, I don't think so. There's no mention of it in the game, and monster souls seem to possibly have all these positive traits intrinsically, to the point where monsters NEED their souls in order to feel any form of positive emotions. Perhaps some monsters express one of these traits more significantly than the others, and can imprint that trait onto a human SOUL? Maybe that's how they're able to change the color of your SOUL? This would also explain how several different monsters and bosses can use the light blue and orange attacks.

But again, this is all speculative.
But then why does Undyne turn our soul gree ? Isn't that kindness ? Maybe the the change they put on our soul is different from changing the trait of the souls if that amkes sense ?

I read something earlier about determination being yellow. If what they say is true, then the amount of determination determines the color. If high amounts turn red, would low amounts turn it colors such as purple and blue? We see Frisk's soul turn all sorts of different colors except orange. Maybe orange is the original color, since it probably took bravery to go to the mountain, bravery might be their original soul trait, but mix it with determination, yellow, and the shades might change. I had a theory that Frisk's soul holds all the traits. That's why it's red. The soul changing color might just be the monsters drawing out certain aspects of the soul. But that makes you wonder why certain colors are used and why both Sans and Papyrus turn you dark blue. With normal monsters you stay red. Same with the boss monsters Toriel, Asgore, Asriel, and Flowey. Dark Blue is Paps and Sans. Yellow is Mettaton. Purple is Muffett. Green is Undyne. But what about cyan and orange?? I don't know if anyone noticed, but Sans' magic is cyan and Paps' is Orange. The two soul colors you don't see Frisk's soul in. What could that mean?? What would happen if your soul turned one of those two colors?? Why would Toby not change you soul to that color??

It was made up and for some reason they made his magic orange the bravery one. Its blue!!!! He even uses it in his battle for the blue attack

And as for what each color means:

Light Blue = Patience = Seen in the don't move attacks.
Orange = Bravery = Seen in keep moving attacks.
Dark Blue = Integrity = Used by Sans and Papyrus, manipulates gravity of the SOUL.
Green = Kindness = Used by Undyne and healing magic, creates a shield or heals.
Purple = Perserverance = Used by Muffet, limits SOUL movement to a web
Yellow = Justice = Used by Mettaton (and Alphys?), causes SOUL to fire projectiles
Red = Determination = Used by Frisk/Chara/the player, amalgamates, and Asriel, allows user to negate the effects of an action or even time and space.

I don't think any of those soul color have any of those power. All human soul do have healing power. Well you saw this in omega flowey fight. Other wise that yellow soul would have break out of that glass jar by now. Dark blue soul would always touching the ground or jumping around in the glass jar. If any thing. Monster useing their spell and just happen have the color of human soul color.

And I've read something about all humans having equal amounts of determination. DT indeed is yellow, at least according to the following post: http://nochocolate.tumblr.com/post/157954943241/determination-is-yellow

And according to this one, all humans have more or less equal amounts of DT: http://nochocolate.tumblr.com/post/141805499420/all-fallen-humans-could-save-and-reload

And my personal headcanon is, that the lack of DT turns a soul white. It would make sense, considering the low amounts of DT the monster souls have. As for Papyrus, as others have said, he never uses orange magic. His clothes are orange though, which I consider to be an aspect of his personality. He likes to act brave, it reflects on him. Just like Sans's clothes reflect his patience.

His cloths are definitely red and white.Sans's jacket is a lighter shade of blue than the colour your SOUL turns into.I don't think the colour of their clothes means much.Other than Muffet nobody turns your SOUL into a colour that matches them.
