Nearly every item can be found from Chocobo World
Pretty sure I've gotten at least one of every single item from Chocobo World. The only items I don't think you can get from it are all the books (Weapons Monthly, Pet Pals, Combat Kings, and Occult Fans) and the Sorceress Letter.

The list in this guide is definitely not complete: http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/197342-final-fantasy-viii/faqs/6959

as I've gotten solomon rings, magical lamps, healing rings, med kits, power generators, etc. Because of chocobo world, I completely filled up my entire inventory.

Pretty sure you can't get remedy+ and I have a hard time believing it's all available with that but I haven't done the math on the items vs inventory space.

I've gotten Remedy+ and many other medicine+ versions.

Actually the only other items you don't get are Holy War Trials and Holy Wars. I just finished getting 100 of every item and max stats for everyone.

I seem to remember getting HWs from CW. But that was on the original PC version of the game and not the Steam version (it also was several years ago).

I got Doomtrain in disc 1 by abusing Chocobo World. This by itself should be enough to prove that the minigame is broken beyond belief. xD

Chocobo world I find gets very boring very quick. It's quite difficult to sit and play.

It literally plays itself. You can get it to level 100 in 2-3 nights of idling.

What happens if you use magic lamp after getting Diablos? :infectedparty:

Nothing.

And yes as far as I was always aware, the only items never to drop in Chocobo World are any and all magazines. Holy War and Holy War Trials.

I also got Doomtrain on my first Steam play through straight after completing one Chocobo forest to enable me to bring Boko home.

Actually you can get a magazine from Chocobo World. I did get the 'Girl Next Door' from CW.

GND is technically a key item and can't be read normally as can all other magazines. So no, the point still stands -- you can't get actual magazines from CW.

Sorry sweetheart, the game classifies it as a magazine...so it's a magazine from CW. Whether you can read it or not is completely irrelevant. xox

I listed in the first post what magazines you couldn't get, and GND wasn't in it.

Everyone need not be so technical.

I've found a guide that has 2 item lists here: <http://www.fantasysquare.com/faq/ff8/ff8pocket.txt>. It seems to be these are mutually exclusive (I've used the item duplication bug to run a few hundred passes of a 99/99/99/96 inventory), as I'm only getting items from the first list. While good, for item collectors it leaves behind a host of exceedingly annoying items like Healing Ring, Med Kit, Glow Curtain, Power Generator (a maximally rare mug from a Blitz), and Knight's Code (5 holy wars, so 500 heros each.) Also missing is my disk 2 source of Solomon Rings for Doomtrain.

I'm curious to see if it's a function of level - my CW save is maxed out at level 100, and a number of the items on the list are direct inferiors of ones on the top list (Healing Mail and Gold Armor are inferior to Silver Mail and Diamond Armor, respectively.) I'll have to give the bird's level a quick tweak and run a few tests at level 1 to find out.

Also, I am using the old PC release of FF8, not the steam version, so that's not the difference.
(Also the Girl Next Door is like the <spoiler>'s Letter you get in Disc 3 - their icons are the miscellaneous textured circle, not the icon for a readable magazine like Weapons Monthly.
