Bosses in Final Fantasy VIII give no EXP, but a lot of AP.

No exp just 20AP, For some bosses a little bit more AP.

the higher level you are the harder things get, so its a good thing bosses dont give you xp! First RPG I played where leveling up makes things harder.

Sorry Dan, I don't entirely agree with you there. I think the game gets very difficult any time you don't have enough appropriate magic to Junction.

Having just completed the game with all six characters at level 100, with a full stock of magic for each along with 2-3 GFs for each, I found that level 100 was trivial provided that I was prepared with Magic Junctioned to the correct spot (ie don't go fighting Marlboros without Pain + Sleep + Confuse + Beserk junctioned to status defense).

That being said, I was underwhelmed with the final boss fight's difficulty.

Say you kill a boss. Then, you earn like 20,000 EXP, and you get to Level 27 in 1 fight. Then, you kill another boss, and you get 65,000 EXP. You are now Level 92, and the bosses are so hard they kick your a$$. Well, that was fun, wasn't it? Almost the level cap in 2 fights.

so the game jsut have low exp lvl cap

i dont know how this game dos all it lvling i know it by exp but i'm guessing more of your power come from your GF then your own lvls

The game is an absolute joke at level 100 except for Omega Weapon with basic understanding of junctioning.

The achievement contrived finish would be impossible if bosses gave xp.

Again, Level 92, or Level 100 doesn't matter with Magic/Junctions. Bosses are actually the eaiser part of the game aside from Omega Weapon (maybe Ultima if you are underpowered). You can get by most bosses without Junctioning things, while there are many enemies in the game that are nigh impossible to defeat with out correct JUncitoning and a decent spell stock (Marlboro anyone?).

The bottom line is that the only thing that Level determines is how many numbers enemies will ring up for damage aginast your characters and how much damage. With correct magic stock and junctioning, difficulty goes DOWN as your progress into the game (with the exception of Omega Weapon).

yeah i thought about trying this. i had always played in the past not knowing the game got "harder" the more you leveled up. but i've got other games for now. like assasin's creed 4. came free with my new gfx card so xP.

Unless Squall was dead for all the bosses you mean?

There's no boss that Squall fights alone as far as I can recall.

There's the first fight against Seifer at the end of disc 1.
