Why Zell' mom not use Zell card?

I play the card battle more than 30 times, still not see the card. I play on disc 2 after got the mobile Balamb Garden.

Got mine on disc 1 so i don't know if that makes a difference, however i remember playing a good 30-40 times before she decided to field it.

Does Zell have to be in your party? Sometimes they take forever to use the dang card.

I find it odd how people claim they play like 30 games and the card doesn't show up... I still have yet to play more than 5 games looking for the card I want to show up, the only time I end up playing more is if I draw (or lose but then I just reload my save).

you can only challenge her with Zell in your party.

i got it right after balamb town was occupied took forever to be played, same with Questis card thought i was challenging the wrong groupy.
Leviathan Card got played 2nd game so ya it random.

The RNG for certain high-level cards to be played seems to be more temperamental than initially suspected. If I were you, I'd try playing someone else for a few hands and/or completing some side-quests and/or (if you've already cleared at least one Chocobo Forest) trying to fetch items from Boko from Chocobo World -- all of these seem to influence the RNG for these players to actually get their rare cards in their hands more often.

Then again, some players are just dicks and won't play you the card you want/need for like over 50 hands. Happened to me a couple of times.

Took a similar amount of times to see the Zell card, unlike other early powerhouses like the Quistis Card. Also, unlike the Quistis card, the player holding the card originally, thankfully, has worse support cards. Not sure about you, but trying to grab Zell, even after the thirty+ matches was infinitely easier than dealing with Quistis's Card right away.

You can always get any missed cards at the end of the game off the CC group aboard Ragnarok

I found a way to always get it pretty quickly on the Steam version.. at least did two times in a row. I was frustrated too as I got only a score of 5 on the Dollet Mission the 1st time around. But I got Zell's card only after playing Zell's mom in Triple Triad on our 2nd game. I forgot you're scored badly on the Dollet Mission when you talk to too many people so didn't even talk to her my 2nd playthrough from my last save point and got a score of 6. But just before going to the Timber Mission I tried for Zell's card again and couldn't get it after 15-20 minutes and was sick of playing Triple Triad so moved on. Then I was like, "I really want that card," so went ALL THE WAY back to my save just before the Fire Cavern quest. Again right after the Dollet Mission I only talked to Zell's mom so I could hopefully get his card. I got it on the 7th game. I also scored a 7 on the Dollet Mission which I'm okay with. Sorry I'm a bit winded but from this I think the best time to get Zell's card is right after you get off the boat from the Dollet Mission. I saved just outside of town beforehand. I'm sure you got the card by now, but maybe this will help others. Take care.

got zell card from her mom when zell is in party, got mogry-kid-card from boy running around balamb-garden, quistis i got evertime from guy in cafeteria when beginning in balamb-garden, to beat diabolos also easy just draw his gravit and cast on him so he cast vigra

You have to play her repeatedly for precisely 10 million years. After that, she'll play the card, guaranteed.
