This example tells you just how much leveling and junctioning can affect your game:
I have not leveled up and I have gathered very good magic from playing cards and junctioned them to Squall. It took 4 normal attacks with trigger to kill Cerberus. Yes, 4 normal attacks.
Diablos can still hit with blind.
I think what you're doing wrong OP is not junctioning well or leveling up your magic. What the guy says about leveling up being wrong is just silly as well. I was level 50 average when I fought Cerberus. He wasn't difficult at all. While leveling does make enemies stronger, it doesn't necessarily make the game any harder especially if you have a solid grasp on the system as a whole (even my first time as a kid, it wasn't all that hard, but it was harder than it is now that I understand everything about the game fully).
Regardless of level, junctions make a WORLD of difference. Want to know how junction works? Play with it yourself. It might take time, but it's the best way to do it. Some magics will junction the highest out of all your options on multiple things, so choose which one you want to use that strongest magic. Go through each junction you can and see how much each magic raises them. Until you get ultima, pretty much all magics are self explanatory and simple, the difference with ultima is that it gives 1% resistance to all elements for each one stocked+junctioned on elem junctions, as well as being like the best junctioning magic for every stat.
In Galbadia Garden you can draw some powerful magic. If you're above level 30 average, the lobby area with Cerberus will have Tri-Face sometimes which has pain (incredibly for status junctions and magic junction). You can get cursed spikes from them as well which can mod into pains if you have status magic mod. Even without that, -aga spells should be relatively easy to get if you're above level 30 by drawing from some of the weaker enemies if you aren't confident with the Tri-Face which can be a little problematic even if you're prepped, depending on your luck.
I didn't know that, for 15 years of playing this game Diablos has never hit me with a physical attack while blinded.
He can. Just like anyone but Squall can hit Cactuars without Hit-J. Seems rare as ♥♥♥♥ but still happens. Same with them hitting with blind.
I can also confirm he does because not only did he hit me in the past, he hit me earlier in the week when I started the game, I blinded him, he killed off Zell (gravija spam or whatever is great, constant limits). It's definitely not common, but it can happen.
