Need to try this out later!
Trying to figure out why there's so much lag on the WM - I think the first time textures are loaded into ram, it lag spikes and then smoothes out - hopefully Omzy can help me come up with a solution.
Wow you are really making the HD remake that Square Enix should have done. It kinda already feels like one and this is now like the icing on the cake.
Seriously thanks a lot for all your mods. I'm not sure I could even bear to play through it without them but with them it's really a lot more fun so yeah thanks. <3
I kinda liked the window around the world map in the corner when its not in the planet shape.
It creates a contrast that makes it easier to see the map especially with the higher resolution ground the colors tend to mix a bit and it becomes harder to see. Just a little thought. ^^
Thanks for the feedback! It is going to be hard to update because my Hard Drive crashed, but I'm working on data recovery right now. I'm glad you're enjoying my mods!
Me too. Except in the case when you're playing a 16 year old game on a 1080P monitor like now. This game needs the mods man, trust me.
This is a person who has not tried the graphical mods. The graphical mods are what is necessary on a modern PC monitor in order to make the game look like it did on the PSX on a standard def TV. Without the background mod at least, the whole game looks like a blurry, jagged pile of crap. There's no excuse not to use them, all you have to do is drag and drop a file. Why not use them? Adding the world map, HUD, and background mods make the game 10X more enjoyable - exactly the same benefit you get from using the music mod, only visually.
If it was worse then you probably did something wrong. There is no conceivable way that it is worse if it's working correctly.
Didn't he just take the original images and smooth them out and upscale them in photoshop? He didn't actually remake the images did he?
No, it's not my mod - it's Omzy's. If you find errors, can you post them in the Project Eden thread at forums.qhimm.com? The more feedback he gets, the more he can fix. He's not very active at the moment, but when he shows himself, he works with a fury.
Regarding Mods:
Audio Mods: I know people love the PSX version for nostalgia's sake, but Roses and Wine is a far better mod. It gives you access to the PSX versions, the OST, and even Orchestral/Remix versions of the tracks. You can even put your own tracks into the game if you know what you're doing. A fellow modder on YouTube has put an entire 'Metal' version of the soundtrack to his game using it. It has it's own installer and Installation is STUPID easy (just select Steam 2013 version as your last step).
Graphics Mods: A matter of opinion. I played this game when it came out and loved it, but I never knew what some of the Cards were supposed to be, and the backgrounds were so grainy and pixelated that you can't even tell that there is a bottle of medicine on Dr. Kadowaki's table. The parts of the game that needed the most help were:
TEXT/Menu/GUI overhaul - The original text does not resize well.
World Textures - OMG these suck. Low poly worlds need some help, so I helped.
Triple Triad - Wow, this game is fun, but oh boy WTF is that card? Fixed.
The field backgrounds are about the only Mod that I feel isn't necessary, but Omzy's Project Eden really does make the game look better.
The mods that fix these issues:
SeeD Reborn, Tripod, and HorizonPack. Project Eden is amazing but at 1.3 gigs, I can see why people avoid it.
Interesting. The only thing I've noticed is that for some reason, the colors seem to have less contrast and are 'muted' compared to the original. And in some places transparencies are a little jumbled with very few missing textures. This is probably due to the upscaling process. It would be nice if someone were to polish Project Eden. Omzy is in no way the only one responsible for this mod - and people can even try to improve on Project Eden and re-release it. It's hard to find someone who has the time and motivation, but the potential exists.
