What let's it down is the time it take's to stock 100 of a magic at the start of the game and for me, it was only at the start.
The above post mentions trying to get Triples, well I drew 300 Triples from Odin within a few minutes and it was done, It wasn't tedious in anyway. Once you junction strong magic onto your magic stat, I found drawing to be fast and bearable.
The issue I have, is it make's you feel as if you can't use your best magic for fear of getting weaker.
The draw system did make me avoid using powerful spells since your stats would suffer if they're junctioned.
The fun part for me was experimenting with adding a newly drawn spell from a monster onto my characters status-attack. I had fun seeing what status effects monsters were vulnerable to.
At first you draw from everyone, just to get rid of the ????.
Then you get Guardian Forces, cards, and the ability to turn items into magic. Aaaand you're pretty much done ^^...
Before long you get magic far beyond what you can draw from ennemies, and the only reason to draw magic is to cast something (healing spell, usually) without depleting your own supply.
I should add though, that I don't. EVER. play magic. Simply because it's not worth it. Magic is for the stats. ONLY for that. I use Squall, Irvine, and I tear through ennemies with physical attacks alone (and limit breaks, obviously). I use Cura (Cure 2), Life, Esuna, and very late game, Aura. That's about it. I never need anything else.
One last thing I'll mention, the magic booster is amazing if you already beat the game and don't want to draw all that magic all over again. So do keep that in mind
Use draw to CAST magic, not to STOCK magic!
Every GF you get in the game can convert common items to magic. I think there is one or maybe two spells in the entire game that required drawing it from an ennemy, but it's been a long time since I played this game.
I'm in the forum looking if Square-Enix has finally made a audio patch. Let's hope! (I have the physical PC version of FF8, but I would really want the Stream version if they have added the quality audio.
EDIT:
Damn, looks like they didn't do it. :(
