Can't get past the title screen
So I go through the overly long intro sequence introduction the credits and various photos to come to the title screen with no button prompt on how to get past it. I furiously push every key but can't get the game to react. It then just fades to black and starts the intro all over again. Any suggestions on how I can get past this?

Press "X", "Enter" or on the 360 controller "A" or "Start"

"X" is the right button, if don't work i think you must re-install the game

I have the same problem however the keyboard decided to stop responding after 30 hours of gameplay. Very frustrating.

Edit: Found a solution. it seems that the game just decided to stop recognizing my g100 keyboard. I plugged in an old PS2 port keyboard that I had lying around, rebooted and I was good to go. Hope this helps.

I tried reinstalling the game and had the same result. I'm playing on a laptop so the keyboard shouldn't be the issue. Maybe I should just try to get a refund?

I'm kind of screwed aren't I? I don't want to have to get a gamepad to make this work all of a sudden...

yeah sorry I don't really have another solution and can't even gaurantee that a gamepad will work. I'd suggest trying to get a refund in this case and try to find another way to play FF8.

Check you keybindings in the launcher.

The keybindings have been switched to default to try and get it to work (in which case x is the select buttom) and it does not work.... :( I guess I'll get a refund

You probably just have conflicting HID information the game can't understand. Are you trying to use Xpadder or Pinnacle Profiler or anything like that? If not, you might just want to unplug any USB devices that aren't essential to playing the game and then try it again with default keybindings.

It's not that. My mouse is plugged in obviously but that's it....
