I couldn't find any similar topics in the Search function.

To get this achievement, is it simply a matter of taking Seed Tests to level 30, and then fighting as many enemies as possible between salaries to get to A?

Pretty much, you should only need to kill 10 enemies between being paid once you hit rank A to offset the amount you loose when you're paid. If you get paid 3 times without killing anything you'll drop back down to rank 30.

Still struggling with this one. Since i'd took Seed Tests to get to level 30, i'd since dropped to level 28 from running from so many battles.

But in my last 4 or 5 salaries, i must have fought 20 battles, and only gone up one salary.

Does anybody have any other ideas or ways to ensure my rank goes up quicker than this? I managed to get Squal from about level 40 to 100 in this time fighting on the Island Closest to Hell...

Why didn't you take the test until he was rank A? Did you run out of them? It's going to take you a while to get to A by fighting enemies since each kill only gives you 1 EXP, you need 100 to gain a level and you lose 10 each time you're paid.

The only other decent ways are at certain points in the game where you can gain chunks of EXP during missions.

You can only take Seed Tests to level 30, there are no further tests. I'm trying to do this on pretty much a completed play-thru so no more opportunities for those EXP you talk about.

Does Ultimate Weapon give one full level? Potentially could i take tests to 30 then fight him? This is a possibility if i load an older file but i was hoping for something a little simpler.

Yes Ultima Weapon gives a SEED Level too.
My suggestion to you: Make a new game, get full points in the Dollet Mission, then level your Squall to Level 30 and take the remaining tests to reach 30. Once you've done the complete Dollet Quest wioth 100 Points, you should be leel 10-12 already.

You can take seed tests to rank A as long as you have enough of them left.

As i previously said, i took all the 30 Seed Tests to get to level 30, there are no more to get me to A.

Due to running from so many battles, my rank was not above my Seed Test level.

I guess it's going to be easier to load an old save so i think i may try Ultimate Weapon again.
