Deep Sea Research Center problem?

I beat Bahamut and it brought me to the new screen with the hole in the gorund. There is suppose to be a piece of debris that allows me to climb down so I can eventually fight Ultima Weapon and get the GF Eden. However the piece of debris is missing, and there is nothing I can do in the Research Center now.

Anyone else have this problem? Any thing I can do to fix it?

UPDATE!

So I figured it out. Apperently you have to leave the DSRC and physically go on board the Ragnorok and then talk to Irvine to fly off again. Really weird requirement because nothing happens, but it works and allows you to travel further down the DSRC. I hope this will help anyone else who runs into the same problem.

Hmm, all mine did to reset was I flew from the DSRC to the ICTH and farmed a bit then flew back and BOOM it was open

I had the exact same problem. I had to talk to Irvine first. Very strange.
