Energy Crystals
Any suggestions on getting these? I'm trying to make Quists' Save the Queen weapon and all I need are 4 Energy Crystals. I've searched for it and it says only Ruby Dragons, Behemoth, and Eloyth(?) which I can't fight until after Esthar. I'm growing tired of grinding these two monsters finally fighting them only to come up empty : (

One of the easiest ways to get them is from a fixed Elnoyle fight in Esthar after the Lunar Cry, but that's close to the end of the third disc. You can also try collecting Elynoyle cards and modding them with Quezacotl's Card Mod ability, but that can be time consuming, considering you need 10 cards to make one Energy Crystal.

Actually I'm at the point right after the Lunar Cry. I decided to take this time to level grind, upgrade weapons, and grabbed Doomtrain. But now that I know I can obtain Energy Crystals from the boss in Esthar then I guess there's no need to grind for them anymore. Thank you for the advice : )

You'll need 2 Energy Crystals to make Squall's final weapon as well, Lionheart, because you'll have to refine those into 20 Pulse Ammo to get the 12 required to make the blade. So I highly suggest you stock up on 'em crystals.

Using 3 laser cannons from Level 30+ Elastoids with the Ammo-RF ability is a much faster process on Disc1 then bothering with Energy Crystals. And with Quistis, I didn't even bother with her final weapon. Having her use the Red Scorpion with a 255 strength stat. Really doesn't matter what weapon you use. But for completetionists go for it!

Play a TON of cards or import them from CW! :)

Yes I have the Red Scorpion for Quistis and most of the second to last weapons for everyone. I even got Zell's final weapon. I just want to get it to get it. I've never completed FF8 completely so I want to get everything I can. Guess I should go ahead with the story and see what happens. I'm pretty strong right now Squall, Quistis, and Zell are all lvl 100 with Irvine and Selphie close behind with Str, Vit, HP, and Spr bonus active so when I hit Ult's castle I'll be as strong as I can be.

Thanks to CW I was able to get a moonstone on Disc 1 which isn't normally available until Disc 3. Getting Irvine's 'Exeter' weapon very early on was a real treat. Thanks CW :D

okay if anyone is after energy crystals once you are up to disc three after the lunar cry event and you are back from space...
you can fight a black esthar guard which turns into an elynoyle he is located after the crossroad whilst you are on the bottom road. you will know when you find him as he says hehehehe.
100% chance to get at least 2 energy crystals. just enter a different area to reset this guard and return as many times as you like. if anyone has trouble just you tube the estar guard elynoyle.

B items from Chocobo world is by far the fastest way to stock up on Energy Crystals.

I haven't tried it but I read on Gamefaqs that the guy outside the hotel in Balamb uses the Elnoyle card everytime you play against him. Thirty minutes and you'll have all the energy crystals you'll need
