Well - I love the old 2000 version -- and even created an improved version of the only major mod available - SeeD v2.0

Having said that - I didn't even want to play the steam version, but Omzy just made a new mod called Tonberry that works only for the Steam version... and tonberry has way bigger implications than the original SeeD mod ever did. Actually -- because of Tonberry, I have released Tripod v1.0 - a Triple Triad full upscale/card game art replacement and in the next few weeks, will be releasing SeeD v3.0 for Steam! So... it's really up to you, but Eden is also coming out for the Steam version - a 4x upscale of ALL of the backgrounds of the game done by Omzy himself.

It's up to you, but there's all the info I have!

It's not like there are even a lot of mods for the 2000 version. Steam version is slightly better out of the box, and I'd be willing to bet there's more mods for it within a year or two; it's almost certainly the better choice.

I dont think there's a framerate or resolution mod for the original version so this version is a lot better, it also loads a lot faster and you can alt tab without crashing the game.

Actually, I've been playing the 2000 version for years with 16:9 aspect ratio and better graphics shaders. You just have to customize it yourself through a .cfg file. DirectX9 on the new version does seem to work better than openGL, but steam makes me stick to 4:3
