It helps early game. Saves you drawing 100 of all the low level magic, and gives you a decent boost to junctions

YEah thats what I've found. Speeds up all those rounds where you stand spamming Draw. But yes it can hurt you if you go all out.

Use magic booster and just don't use the spells until you are at a point where you would be able to use them freely if you hadn't boosted.
Drawing magics is not hard actually. You just need to set the cursor to memory, then you just need to press the same button for the next 3-5 minutes to get 100.

true it isn't hard but it is time consuming and mind numbingly boring. in all fairness 3-5 minutes doesnt seem long but in the starting area alone there is 4 or 5 spells you will want to draw to 100 (fire thunder and blizzard as well as cure and water because it breaks the junction system). for some spells like water you will want to draw 100 per character for best effect. this means you are easily spending half an hour hitting a button mindlessly. as someone who has done it for at least 20 stacks of spells across all my characters it is really annoying. that being said i would have used a booster but that feels like cheating.

That's the problem. I hate this game's drawing mechanics. It's making me nuts and I tried to use that booster in order to encourage myself to finally beat this game, but I couldn't. I had to start from the beginning and beat it, while drawing spells. Beginning doesn't matter anyway, as GF owns everything, but later looking for Ultimas and other spells which boosts stats to very high amounts is pain in the ass, especially if you want to beat bonus bosses.

i have an unusually high tolerance for grinding so i got stacks of fira blizzara thundara and cura by using the refine low magic into mid magic ability (for reference 10 of a low magic = 1 mid magic so i actually grinded 1000 of 4 different spells). what killed the game for me is after that i found a way using the card system and some items you can buy in shops to get better spells than those and thus hours of drawing were wasted. anyway to make drawing a less painful experience here is something you can do.

step 1 junction 100 sleeps to status attack.
step 2 attack an enemy with a spell you want (this should put it to sleep if not attack again)
step 3 turn on the speed booster
step 4 draw until the enemy wakes up
step 5 repeat steps 2-4 until you either get bored or have the spells you need.

I wouldn't even consider it cheating if you use it post-Dollet exam (having acquired both Siren and Diablo). All it does is save you time playing the card game for 20 hours to refine level 1-5 cards into items into magic. In fact, the Magic Booster doesn't even give you all the magic you could have via the card game (ie- the booster doesn't give Firaga, Thundaga, Blizaga, etc. which can easily be refined from items that come from level 1-5 cards). There really isn't much magic you don't have access to before the Timber mission (mostly just Forbidden magic, like Ultima and Meteor, which the booster doesn't give you)

i know as soon as you get a good amount of gil all you have to do is get to timber to get a crap ton of at least 1 really good spell. i want to say it was curaga. anyway the pet shop in timber sells items that can be refined into powerful magic last i checked.

I decided to go ahead and use it, as I just can't see myself spending the hours drawing 100 of each spell for each character as i once did in the past. It seemed like it was decent as long as i could convince myself not to actually use the magic until i seen it available in game, however in my very first battle i discovered a spell that the magic booster didn't give me, which was SCAN. That's like a massive fail. Scan is helpful, it's one of the first spells you see, and the fact that i used magic booster but still had to sit there and harvest 100 spells for quistis and squall makes me really wonder what else was overlooked.

Is there any alternative to the magiv booster for the steam version? I am looking for something that acts like the gameshark code for drawing 100 in a single shot. I loved that code because it let me save the drawing time without gaining early access to spells i shouldn't have...If anyone knows of a way to make this happen on PC I'd be insanely greatful.

I'm not sure if this is true or not but I have seen it happen more often than not, but if a character has a high Magic stat they can draw 9 spells most of the time depending on the spell. It's certainly not a cheat but it helps. Only have to draw about 10 times to gett 100
