GF rushing a good way to play?
Is there a downfall to GF rushing? I don't see any, and the GF clearly do a lot more damage.

GF's do more damage early on but if you junction your characters correctly, they can do far more damage than GF's & usually faster since some summon animations take time.
Also some bosses can 1-shot GF's so they're not always the best form of damage.

I must just suck at this game then cause I've been GF rushing, and I just got to disc 3

Trust me on this, since that's what I did too during my first run (granted i was like 7 and thought the animations were SO DAMN AWESOME).

The downfall will come either in the mid or late game, and especially if you haven't been getting magic for junction. You're gonna have trouble with the first boss on early Disc 4. You're gonna have trouble if your GF dies. And if you make it past everything, one of the last bosses (No one spoil this for him please) will just outright KILL your GF(s) with their skill.

TL:DR
GFs are useful, Junctions are better. Although GF animations still look awesome.

Can I get some tips on how to junction properly? I heard that putting one GF on a character will make that GF stronger, but if you put 2 on a character they get jealous and wont be as effective, so I've been keeping one GF on a character

The whole compatibility system only comes into play if you're summoning GFs (ie using them in battle). This in no way affects how the junction abilities work.

For example, if you gain +10 Strength from junctioning magic via one GF, then it will be the same +10 Str on any other GF, regardless of their compatibility to the character.

Ideally, you'd want GFs that complement each other (meaning one may have HP and Str-Js while the other has Spr and Vit-J, etc).

A bonus is if the GFs in question also have the St-Atk/Def-Js (Status Attack/Defence-Junction).

And there's a variety of ways to find magic that I won't spoil. The hint I'll give is: You don't have to DRAW magic. There are other, more efficient ABILITIES to get them.
