Can't get pub owner to play doomtrain card

I've done the queen of cards quest. I lost alexander to the queen in dollet, then won it back from her son. She said she went to balam, and i left dollet and went straight to Timber to play the pub owner to get the doomtrain card.

He won't play it. Its been 20 games. None of the other cards i went after took any more than 5 games.

Do i need to speak wtih the queen's son or father in the house with the painting, i may have just ran in to win alexander back and left, without speaking to them

Keep playing against him. It's a pain in the arse trying to get him to play it, but he will eventually. Just make sure you don't have the Direct trade rule active when you play him.

Double check with the father to make sure he's definitely made it though.

I know it's an old thread but for the future players who will have this problem i confirm that the he got the card. On my case he played it at the 20-21th match of triple triad

Problem persists counting at 68 games right now he used it once during a direct game and placed it in impossible to take scenario.
Trade is one again but now refuses to play the card again..
