It worked for me this way, at least.
If you're having trouble surviving I recommend you give your characters auto-haste, pro/shell abilities. Also have everyone's ultimate weapon , use the Aura spell which lets you use limit breaks more frequently which will knock off chunks of HP from the bosses. Renzokuken+duel+shot works wonders. Just make sure you have characters with revive/recover abilities
You can reduce the defence of each boss by casting meltdown & also junctioning earth/wind/holy maic to your elem defence to nullify or absorb those attacks, since the bosses do use those spells.
Shockwave pulsar is non-elemental so best to cast shell/regen or Mighty Guard to absorb some of the damage. Quistis can use that spell which is effective against each form of Ultimecia too, it can break the 9999 damage limit. The chance of rebirth flame occuring is only about 25% so its not really that reliable.
For apocalypse, kill her lower half first, then just zerg her down before she can use it & keep megalixirs etc on hand when she uses Hell's Judgement attack. If you have any holy war items you can just use them to make yourself temporary invincible for an easy win.
This is assuming, of course, that you're good at inputting his sequences. It takes some getting used to, but his combos loop in a set reel. You use one of the three that show up randomly, then the next one will always be a specific combo, etc. Punch rush, heel drop, dolphin punch, I think was the loop that I used? I may have messed one of their namaes up. But yeah. That's my advice. Use Zell. He's the VIII equivalent to TG Cid in Tactics.
