What's the best version ? This or the HD remaster?

It depends what you choose. HD Remaster looks awfull blurry and inconsistent, but x3 speed is a really good welcome enhacement.

with 3x the battles are like 60fps? not 15? so its like FF9 moguri mod or FFX speed booster.

The ugly even-more emo characters models in HD remaster kill it instantly for me

This is, with some quality of life mods, the best modern version available right now.
No blurry backgrounds or textures (just turn off filtering in the launcher), the only thing I'd really complain about is the battle menus share the same low frame rate as the battles + no vibration.
Otherwise it's....mostly fine?

IMO they didn't make any justifiable improvements at all in the "remaster" except for fixing the soundtrack, which the lazy bastards at Square-Enix should have done for this version instead of leaving it for fans to do it for them. The garbage butchering of the OST that Eidos put in this port is utterly inexcusable and Square-Enix should be ashamed for publishing it.

Yeah, they're both sub-par unfortunately. I started playing the Remaster, but the changed character model for Squall bothered me so much - he looks like a different person entirely - that I've switched back to the original.

I thought he looked normal and it looked better.

BUT THE FPS FKING SUCKS SO BAD IN THE REMASTER!

I wanted to keep playing it but I can't stand stutter or lag or twitching or anything like that. I was less than an hour in before I stopped and got a refund.

I am now wondering if this version has better FPS than the remaster.
It might not be FPS that is the issue.

I just know that the Remastered looks CHOPPY AS FK.

This version has 45 achievements, the remaster only has 34. Does anyone know why?

here's my opinion after i tested both remaster & original. Remaster is not worth it. Character model movement in remaster version moves slower than the original like a slow-mo in matrix. Once I saw Seifer trying to slam his desk in classroom in beginning in remaster I refund straight away, completely out of sync.

So just get original. Graphic is not everything. Thank you.
