Squall's "whatever" in different languages
For anyone who played the game in a language other than English, how was Squall's "whatever" translated? Since he uses it in a dismissive / slang way (like "I don't care" or "this doesn't matter to me"), and not in a strictly "normal grammar" way ("You can eat whatever you want!"), I haven't found it easy to find proper translations.

Just curious!

I've played the game in italian and instead of "whatever" He usually says '...' or 'fa come ti pare', which means do what you want. They are all listless phrases but He does not have a real catchphrase.

Look at this little blog, it explains it very well:

In german, he just says "Nicht wirklich" very often. It translates to "not really".
In the original japanese version, Squall uses different sentences and i way less rude than he might come across in the english translation.

It's pointless trying to translate Squall's "whatever" since it even has different meanings in the Japanese language. See here: https://legendsoflocalization.com/squalls-whatever-line-in-japanese-final-fantasy-viii/

Someone that wants to refer to the actual meaning of this phrase should adopt that in each situation that is being used accordingly.
