Balamb Garden MD Elevator Bug?

Hello everyone,

I've played FFVIII many times, on PS and on emulators, and now I'm playing it on Steam.
However, in Disk 2, at the Balamb Garden, once I get on the MD elevator, if I get Squall to go to the control panel after talking to the other party members, nothing will happen.

I checked the trap door, and then the control panel again. but nothing happens. Suggestions?

Does the game actually freeze or are you able to move around? If you can then it's a case of finding the sweet spot that triggers opening the trapdoor when you press the ok/action button.

I'm able to move around, but when I get to the control panel it doesn't let me do anything with it even if I press the action button.

I'm noit sure what to say to that one. Perhaps it might be worth checking the keyboard settings in the setup just in case?

Only thing I can suggest if the above didn't work is to try to load from an earlier save and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise you would need a save from someone else from just after the md elevator scene. If you really wanted to be a purist; you could then transplant your stats, items, magic etc using the Hyne save editior.
