Music of FF8 PC
I've seen many people complain about the music of this port. As someone who never played the PS1 version I'm honestly struggling to find a problem with the music. I would even say I'm enjoying a lot of the tracks on this game. Actually there's one track that sounds kinda weird to me, the victory one. It has some kind of distortion that I can't tell if it's supposed to be there or not.

Anyway, maybe if I had played the PS1 version I'd see what the issue is all about. Luckily for me I'm enjoying the music from this game, even more than the one from FF7 I'd say.

The worst is the boss battle theme

Balamb Garden: Liked them both about the same.

Battle + Victory: Liked more the PS1 version, mainly because the PC version of victory has
some strange kind of distortion as I said in the OP (you can hear it in the video too).

Boss: I prefer PC for that one. The drums sound bigger and more real.

Never Look Back: Definitely PS1. Instrument levels sound more proper and has better use of stereo.

Wounded: PS1 wins again. Organ sounds more powerful and dramatic.

Overall I think the PS1 music is indeed more solid, but I'm ok with the PC soundtrack and I'm glad it isn't ruining the game for me.

Yeah that's cool if you're okay with it. To be honest I couldn't play without modded soundtracks because it gaves me heavy headache and I couldn't feel the nostalgia (especially with the fanfare theme that sounded wrong).

Anyway, if you ever want to use the music from the PS1 there is an easy to use mod.

Have fun
