Analog controls mod?
So, I've been warned off of the "Remaster" of the game. To be honest, I'm tempted to stick with the PS1 version of the game, but it seems such a shame. I would like to support the game by buying it again on a modern platform.

One of my main gripes with the Remaster is there are still no analog controls for the game. Has there been a mod released that fixes this?

It seems like a pretty tall ask, but I thought I'd at least ask before I give up completely.

You don't need one. Any controller mapping utility will let you map both the dpad and sticks to the arrows.

But then the characters would only move in 8 directions, rather than 360? No?

Not necessarily. I stick to antimicro, which lets you adjust the diagonal ranges and dead zone of the sticks. Or, if using an xinput device, bind both the dpad and stick to the stick channel.

OK, I just don't know how it can possibly understand that you are walking/running or running at a 30 degree angle, when the PC code the game is based on only accepted cursor keys as input?

OP is asking if there is a mod for proper analog movement for this version of the game.

This version only has 8 was movement which is not true analog.

This supposedly restores analog movement.
