Error 9000

Can anyone help me with this error?

It says it "loading" on the splash screen just comes up Error 9000

The only other option available is "not registered yet?" Sign Up
Which takes me to the Square Enix site where I sign in with my Steam account and it just doesnt care and still doesnt work. All I wanted to do was play FF8 is this some DRM crap?

I tried reinstalling it and I've tried running as admin and still nothing...

Same problem here. From what I've read it's an internal server error on Square Enix's side. But I could be wrong.

I don't get it though cause FF7 works fine. I have the original discs and at this rate I'm going to play that version. This would've just saved me looking them out...

That's weird. My FF VII works just fine, but VIII has this error.

Have here same issue with error 9000. SE should remove DRM, for people who have bought the game. After all, this game is very old...

Same issue. Logged a support ticket with Square, whatever good that will do.

It wont do any good. They closed down their support staff due to the COVID-19. So we are SoL until they get some staff onsite to fix it.

Getting the same error, even though I've played FF8 without issue a few times since the Steam release. I would send a ticket to Square too, in hopes that they'll swap out the hamster in the wheel.

Try to Verify Intergrity of game files, It worked for me.
