PS4 Controller no longer working.

I managed to get my ps4 controller working fine by allowing controller support, setting the d-pad on controller configuration then just memorising the B1, B2 etc. I haven't changed any settings but now I go into big picture mode, load the game and all that works is the d-pad that I configured. It's like the game doesn't have controller support anymore.

I tried just assigning the other buttons in configuration but that leaves me without analog sticks, which is really annoying. This ever happened to anyone else? It's really frustrating, it was all fine now I feel like I can't play the game the way I want :(

Is there any way for you to go into big picture mode before you load the game? I think that your setup will work, but you're going to have to make sure the controller is connected and running in whatever setup you want before you execute the game whatsoever.

To get my DS4 working I had to open big picture and select "xbox configuration support" and "ps4 configuration support" then back on the main client go into the steam controller config when you select the game and set steam to use the keyboard configs normally in game.

Same here, PS4 controller does not work anymore. Controller is up and running, but the game does not recognize it.

Ok I got it to work, try this:

1. Open Big Picture Mode
   
2. Select Final Fantasy VIII in your library
   
3. On the left side, select "Manage Game"
   
4. Under "Steam Input", select "Controller Configuration"
   
5. At the bottom, select "Browse Configs"
   
6. Select "Final Fantasy VIII Playstation American" (should be the topmost option when "Commuity" is selected on the left side
   
7. At the bottom, select "Apply Configuration"
   
8. Leave this menu / return to "Your Game", and select Play

After doing this, the game reacts to inputs from my PS4 controller again.
