FINAL FANTASY VIII

Stuck on Disc 4 Sorceress(es) battle.
these guys (gals) are giving me a lot of trouble: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Sorceress_(Final_Fantasy_VIII_enemy) I can't get through all 11 of them. It's been months since I've played the game, and wanted to finally finish it, but I need to leave and practice on something a tad easier. Beyond that, my stats aren't quiet up to par, so I'd like to go improve my junctions with more spells and what not, but I can't seem to find a way to leave the commencement chamber. Am I stuck here? If I just grind the battle out can I leave?

In a way, final fantasy 8 is the only final fantasy, where level isnt really important, becuase the enemies tend to level with you....as such there are low level runs, with parties under level 10.... you can try grinding, but keep in mind, that will level your opponents in the surrounding area as well....have you tried changing your stategies, as in have 1 party member focus on heals, then 2 and then 3 in a game like this, if you have to turtle, and heal like crazy with 1 member attacking then thats still find. IF they are 1 shotting your entire party in 1 turn, and you dont have any spells to reduce the damage, then it may be an unwinnable situation....

But then again, ive killed many "unkillable bosses" using these basic healing strategies of increasing the healer count/ reducing damage, so give it a try

If you gave me a basic run down of how the fight normally progresses, and your available spells....i can give you more strategies

Was thinking about it last night, and think I might have a strategy that could work. I've always known leveling up is detrimental, but I guess the one thing I do need help with is knowing how the game chooses what level the enemy is. Is it the average of the party, or based on the highest level member, or something else?

There are 4 types of levels.
1= a fixed level (usually certain areas or bosses)
2= the average level of your party (usually bosses)
3= the average level of your party plus or minus a x number (normal enemies)
4= the average level of your party up to a max (usually bosses)

The sorceresses A, B and C while fighting while time gets compressed are all fixed, they are always lvl 45.

Leveling in this game really doesn't do all that much, except loot wise and which magics you can draw. Leveling up all your characters to 100 without specific stat bonus abilities which give you extra stats when leveling up is rather sad. Seriously, the stat difference between a lvl 100 char and its starting level is miniscule. The best way to increase a stat is with the means of junctioning.

This is a proper setup for junctioning:

HP: Holy (3800)
Str: Meteor (75)
Vit: Meltdown (80)
Mag: Flare (44)
Spr: Reflect (72)
Spd: Tripple (70)
Eva: Tornado (12)
Hit: Double (40)
Luck: Aura (40)

Elemental attack: Don't even bother for most enemies
Elemental def:
-Ultima 100 all resist
-Full-Life 40 all resist
-Life 30 all resist
-Shell 20 all resist

If you junction all 4 you will absorb 90% of all elemental damage

Status attack: Blind, Silence, Sleep, Death (swith em around a bit per character)
Status defence:
-Pain
-Confuse
-Berserk
-Sleep / Death (depends on the enemy your fighting, i suggest death on most cases)

Where to get all this stuff?, well just look for a guide, i suggest Split Infinity's on gamefaqs, the wiki or whatever.

I am having issues with this as well. I have half of the summons. Last one I got to was alexander I believe. But selphie, quistis, and rinoa are under level 20. Between the levels of 15 to 19. Irvine, Squall, and Zell I think around the level of 30 to 33. The boss is a lvl 32 but with no health status to show. From my book it says it ranges from 600-5100 which doesnt seem accurate because I am pretty sure adel has way more health than that because I dont do that much damage in my third attempt. I hate to say it but I need help and if idk what to do next I prob will take a break come back later because as you said leveling up seems to make them the same average level as the team. So by the looks of it I guess I cant go back to level up and train and or leave lunatic pandora. Which sucks because I didn't do a save before entering until I got in it. So I am guessing there is no way out.

Wow, that's great info. I have pretty limited stocks of magic at the moment, so I'll see what I can draw.

The strategy I ended up settling on was to cast haste on everyone at the start of battle, then cast death on each sorceress, one by one.

Right before the final sorceress, I waited for my haste to run out and then recast it on everyone just to be sure it wouldn't fail when I needed it. I healed everyone with curaga, and killed the sorceress preceeding the final one. As soon as final sorceress came in, I used the GF from two party members, and put the final nail in the coffin with Squall using Kamikaze before she could cast Ultima. A little crude, perhaps, but it worked, lol.

Yeah, most people seem to do just fine rolling along the way without any proper junctions or levels of any kind and make it to that point. Then lunatic pandora comes into play and you reach adel only to realize your setup simply doesn't work out and then you realize you can't get back. I saw my brother back in... what was it, 98 or something?, make the same mistake. I allready learned from that.

In my current game, i think my characters were more properly setup while fighting ifrit then most are in the end of the game...... simply stated, no, the game isn't that difficult for me now XD But then again, i play this game now for building up my characters.

So revisiting the fight with a fully trained party, (no cheats nor modifications) and using basic common sense, i one shot each sorceress and the final one was barely about to do a few hundred damage on my party...leveling up may seem useless, but the rate your party grows is slighty faster than most enemies....at this point every fight in the game is nothing but a joke, with the exception of the 2 weapons, but compared to other final fantasy games bosses (like omega from 5) even they are pretty easy, and i downed in 1 try.....

So you may want to focus on your spirit stat to reduce all spell damage....focus on a defensive junction and this battle should be pretty standard

@john...vit is for physical attacks, which isnt as important in this fight, you want your best junctions on spirit to protect from any oncoming magic attacks

Of course i know what vit does, however i never stated what does what, just what are good junctions per stat.
