random rule in galbadia garden in ff8

trying to abolish the random rule in galbadia garden. i know the open rule has to be spread before the random rule can be abolished. i tried to do it the way fuzzfinger did it in his walkthrough but, even though i like his streams, it was very confusing. anyway all the trade student wants to do is spread either the open rule which when he does this won't do anything else or the elemental rule which i don't want.any ideas.

First, if this region doesn't have "Open", go and play a game in a region that has it... like Balamb (for default). Now, go to the region where you want to abolish the rule and save the game near a "playable" person. If you try to play with that person, he/she will ask you to mix rules, select "Yes" and, in the Triple Triad screen, select "Quit". Several things might happen (in no specific order):

1. Open rule spread
2. Random rule abolished
3. Same rule abolished
4. Plus rule abolished
5. Nothing, AND the person won't ask to mix rules again.
6. Nothing, AND the person will ask to mix rules again.

If you get 6, you can ask the person again. If you get 1 or 5, restart the game (L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + Select + Start). If you get 2, 3 or 4; good! When you abolish a rule, you can return to Balamb, play a game and repeat the entire process again to abolish another rule. By the way, DO NOT mix rules in Balamb (i.e. keep saying "No" until the person stops asking to mix rules), DO NOT get to the screen with the "Play"/"Quit" choices or something bad might happen to the rules of Balamb. After abolishing the desired rules, you can get the 1 message now for an easy game.

It doesn't have to be Balamb or the "Open" rule exclusively. You just have to choose a region that has a rule that the "bad rules" region doesn't have. For example, FH, which has the "Sudden Death" rule. It's just easier with Balamb.

By the way, Same/Plus means that the rules Same and Plus are active in that region. I suggest that you read the in-game tutorial of Triple Triad for more information about these rules.

i did all of what the video showed was able to spread open in timber and abolish random in dollet but that don't affect galbadia. here's what i did. after getting ervine i went back to the save spot and saved then i went down the hall to the skating rink and in to the locker room where the exchange student is. after saying no to him a couple of times i went to the room across the hall from the skating rink were there is 3 students. after saying no to her the girl untill she stopped trying to mix the rules i said yes then quit. after all this i went back to the save point saved in a differant slot, i make a practice of having at least 3, i hard reset. ran back to the exchange student said no 4 times then said yes and quit but he wants to spread the open rule only. i watched another video where he said yes the first time twice after the second time he spread the open rule then after doing the rest got the random rule abolished. i tried that but it got the elemental rule spread. it.s getting frustrating i'm starting to think i'll need to start a whole new game.

U can try this. i don`t no if it works on remastered PC version.
Easiest way to abolish all rules in Playstation. Is to go Balamb town there’s a guy chilling at the docks. Play Him once and he abolishes all rules and passes his rules to other towns. His rules are always open, one, all. Simple and easy.
