Best Version Ever

It seems that it's become trendy for people to moan about something they know nothing about, so I'd just like to point out that this is actually the best version of FFVII there's ever been. Here's why:

- Higher quality videos than any previous version
- Cleaner background images
- Best quality 3D models
- Perfect PS1 sound (with Assimi's mod)
- Achievements
- Less buggy than previous PC versions
- Best version of the script (more faithful translation -- no grammatical errors)

There isn't a single way that this version is worse than any other -- and lots of ways it's better.

Sure it is... whatever helps you guys sleep at night when you toss and turn over having spent more on FFVII than a sale copy of Borderlands 2, Witcher 2, or Saints Row 3 (or a thousand other games always <$10) would have cost you.

This Steam version has:

Higher quality videos than the PS1 version
Higher quality music than the PS1 version (taken from the OST - with free mod)
Better backgrounds than the PS1 version
A more faithful, accurate and less error-filled script than the PS1 version

And, of course, emulated games tend to be buggy and prone to issues (see for yourself: http://forums.emulator-zone.com/showthread.php?t=18997 )

Plus, this version comes with controller support out of the box, achievements, and cloud saves, as a bonus.

Add all this to the fact that FFVII never sells for less than $15 on eBay (again, see for yourself: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_dcat=139973&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=Final+Fantasy+VII ) and I think we've got some pretty conclusive evidence that the first letter of your name really should be a "D".

"A more faithful, accurate and less error-filled script than the PS1 version" Wrong they have typos and made it worse tifa says "Barret told me to leave the LECH alone" even if it supposed to be that they even forgot to edit one of the SH words cause it optional if you have Cid in your party in the forgotten city how stupid the PC script is also PC version has many bugs like sometimes i go through the ground on the wrold map otherwise yes the PC version is the best version as its not limited like the ps version. also it being more than 20 bucks doesnt make it good could just mean it rare man vs wild is 40 bucks only cause it limited print beilieve me that game aint good

@Douchebag what are you talkin about it was only 11 bucks on steam what we gonna toss and turn over 1 dollar? ROR we have mods that turn ff 7 into a ps2 game graphically and the ps1 soundtrack modded in you got the bad end of the deal not us if anything youll be tossing and turning knowing we playing the updated version of 7 id rather pay 1$ more than get boredlands 2 rehash garbage Gear box stole money and developers from sega and colonial marines, put it all on that garbage and thats what they came up with? sad borderlands 1 is better Duke nukem was just halo rehash garbage too all the big developers that used to be good are slippin just care about Mula just like you. "and it's always had SH*T in the script." not the PC version its editied except that one part, the ps1 version and the ps3 digital copy still have the old script unedited, what so it supposed to be lech? good at least they dont have typos doesnt make the new script any better interwebs lied to me told me it was supposed to be Leach when i looked the script up and why did you quote the cid part too? thats for sure correct i played the reactor on both versions recently which has a lot of Sh words just wasnt going to play to corneo twice to see what Tifa said in the old script what so the older PC versions were even buggier Jesus and i thought this one was bad i own the first PC version too but dont remember any bugs then againi only played it once on PC before steam version, oh so they calling Corneo a river in central Europe it all makes sense now,

I really appreciate being able to have this masterpiece of a game re-released and enhanced a little, by Square Enix as well. I just added the adult sized models and used the other little enhancements that the Bootleg.40 file had, along with Assimi's original PlayStation music pack and everything was really great. Also just being able to have the original epic music back was the best thing ever too.

Anyone that likes to play on their PC more than their consoles (and loves japanese rpgs) should definitely get this game. It should just not be passed up.

Now if we could only get Final Fantasy XIII someday. I know we will be getting Final Fantasy VIII, and possibly IX?

you already have 13 thats the problem we need the good ones and no 9 was never ported to PC why do people just expect their to be a 9 port cause of 7 and 8? do your homework

Why not expect IX? VII & VIII were on the PlayStation and since IX was the last one you would assume that there could be a possibility. Final Fantasy XIII hasn't been released on the PC
