About Fixing the FFVII Soundtrack...
Okay so I resigned myself to buy the game if it made the summer sale. It did, and I'm downloading it now. I heard the music is worse on PC than it is on PS3. So here's my quesion.

Can anyone verify that this link is a proper fix for the soundtrack?
[I'm removing the link because you shouldn't use it. See Edit]

Furthermore, this won't break achievements and the like, correct? Just fixes the music and then you forget about it?

EDIT: PROBLEM RESOLVED
Best solution is the following:

Also replacing the .ogg files does not interfere with achievements. Just makes the game how it was meant to be played. Thanks everyone!

Anyone?

It works for me. You can always restore the original music.

The link I provided was the mod you used? Or is there a better one?

If you look either on google or on here you can find someone that posted an entire .ogg rip of the FF7 OST from the ps1 / psn versions properly made to loop and everything, you can use that or this mod you linked, and no, changing the OST doesn't break achievements.

Yes, that was the mod I used. Just rename the original folder and unpack the .rar in its place.

Use the Anxious Heart mod provided in the first post here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=613186

Yeah, I used that same one and had no issue getting an achievement to pop. Though I'm not really liking this version and want the original.

These tracks are truly better than the original PSX versions as Final Fan Tim remastered them with modern techniques to give more realistic sounding instruments to most tracks. Really a great substitute.

Edit: I don't know if the link provided in that guide is actually to Final Fan Tim's remastered release. I got mine from QHIMM, where it was originally posted and repackaged for .ogg support.

Thank you all for your responses! I noticed in the link I provided there was a demo of how the music affects the game. Take the following for example:

Now I compared that to this:

Within the first few seconds of the battle I could tell there was a huge difference. I mean, one has guitars, one doesn't. The FinalFanTim stuff sounds awesome. Does the Anxious Heart mod provide that kind of quality?

there are several fixes for that in the Steamguides section for this game. They all work.
I have a hard time seeing some of the compaints in my own eyes since I played the PS1 AND the Original PC version, The Original PC one using your computers MIDI system which is what the steam one sounds like.

Though this is all subjective and since FF7 is best known by its PS1 Audio Track thats the one that should be playing

honestly i think the one that has guitars, sounds like ♥♥♥♥. Give me the original midi tracks, so nostalgic

It really depends on your sound card. I remember the original release to sound very different based on the sound font being used. Unfortunately it seems like they used a lower quality one for the recordings.

Honestly no matter what I decide to go with, I just want one winged angel to have actual lyrics. I listened to the .OGG file after installing the game, it's just horrible. I tried downloading the original soundtrack but I couldn't find it :(
