Black Screen After "Keyboard" Screen
I've cycled around but cannot find the issue relating to this. Only the same obvious complaints and simple mistakes. So there will be alot of repetition and assurance of what I have done, do, and am seeing. Please bear with me.

Firstly, the keys are binded. I go to the settings and have tried the default binding (ok being x) and my own binding. I will click Play and the game begins displaying the squarenxi logo, followed by the edios screen, and then the chobos roaming around the square enix and then I will be taken to a black screen where the title music is playing. No keys respond. Just a black screen with the title music.

If I click the keys during the edois screen I am taken to a view of the Keyboard commands. I press ok (x) and again a black screen but this time there is no music whatsoever. Again, just a black screen and nothing more. The issue is not I forgot to bind the keys, I am passed that step.

The only option I have to remove myself from the black screens is to hit control and alt and quit the game as such.

I have checked theg graphics, that is not the issue. I have tried every combination of the Linear Filtering, Keep Aspect Ratio, and Original Graphic Mode.

It is worth noting I use a Parallel program on my Mac to play the Steam Games that only Windows will allow. This is the only time there as been an issue with this. I do not see it being the cause and will appreciate more constructive feedback about this.

Now that all being said, when I do launch the game a pop up appears that says "Can't Read Input Configuration." I think this is referring to the binding of the keys. However I do not see how this explains the black screens for I will immediatly go into my settings and bind the inputs to keys before attempting to play the game. The keys seem to stick because I am able to skip part of the start up, and get past the "Keyboard " screen (The one with the familar blue background like in the original FF7 on the ps1).

Help would be appreciated.

Make sure your files aren't installed to a shared folder, and that your video card drivers are up to date. Ah... You're using a Windows Emulator for Mac. I don't know what to tell you then, if my previous advice doesn't work

It does not appear to be in a sharred folder but I can easily be mistaken.
Edit: I have Confirmed I am the only person allowed acess to the folder FF7 is located.

Checked the graphics and sadly they are. I went as far to just downloading the older version to see if for somereason that would work, but I kept being told with pop ups that my current graphic cards are passable.

I figured the Parallel would cause issues, but again this is the first time an issue occured so I'm in a tad bit of denial.

Edit:
Thank you for your help though. It at least lets me know it is something that may not be fixed and lessens my stress.

I am having the same issue on Windows 7.

Screen goes black and won't continue forward after the chocobo's running around square enix logo.

non-shared folder install, drivers up to date...

Any advise?

I see this post is old, but I had this exact same issue running FFVII using paralells to use windows on my mac. It was an issue with having a shared folder that a previous poster mentioned. By default, parallels shares your windows files with your mac, when I disabled that and reinstalled steam and FFVII, everything worked fine. The reinstallation might not be necessary, I only thought about the shared folder issue after I had already uninstalled steam and all my games...

Hope this helps anyone else that comes looking
