Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest is superior to Final Fantasy VII
VII has cheesy drama and a contrived plot. Mystic Quest features a simple plot, but it's easy enough to follow and nobody goes all emo for no particular reason like in VII.

VII features 3D models from the awkward early age of 3D graphics and it shows. Mystic Quest features pixel art from the "golden age" of pixel art in gaming that is in a nice style and portrays well what it's supposed to.

VII's gameplay suffers from it being too easy to make your characters overpowered, doorways and important objects hidden due to the poor quality of the pre-rendered backgrounds, clunky user interface during battle, awkward magic system, tediousness. Mystic Quest's characters are more fixed stat-and-spellwise, it is easy to tell everything apart visually, user interface is intuitive for the time, magic system is simple to figure out, and the nature of the game's enemy encounters makes grinding not as tedious.

VII's fun factor is hampered by the fact the game is so difficult to just pick up and play. Mystic Quest can simply be picked up and enjoyed. Its pacing is proper for a game of its length.

And the music speaks for itself.

And the music speaks for itself.

"What about us?! What are WE supposed to do?! What about my pain?! My fingers are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning!"

The fact he spends most of the time bawwwing about Aeris. I'm not saying having a tragic character death is bad or anything, it's how the character, especially the one you play as, reacts to it. Instead of breaking into a sobbing mess, the character should swear revenge. Motivated badass is better than crybaby.

At least he's not Squall, right? Or dead-inside-Lightning.

So even in 2013 haters get mad that the WORLD still prefers FFVII, just deal with it and accept it, no one is going to dig up Mystic Quest, sorry

eeee Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest is the first Secret Of Mana (the "Final Fantasy" was added only for the USA and Mystic Quest Legend (because it's the true name) in japanese is Seiken Densetsu), so this FF is not really a Final Fantasy (FF in marketing only).

But I would not be against a ressurection of the Secret Of Mana licence

At first I thought you were making a mistake, but then I looked it up and realized that Final Fantasy Adventure was called Mystic Quest in Europe. How confusing.

What I'm talking about is a completely different game. An excellent (if underrated) RPG on the SNES.

"Haters" "the WORLD prefers FFVII, just deal with it"

Yeah, the people who despise the FFVII fanboys most likely outweigh the FFVII fanboys themselves. Pretty sure you're the minority there. But you probably don't remember years ago when every little kid on the internet was obsessed with Cloud and Sephiroth and that insane woman was claiming Sephiroth actually exited.

To be fair, I don't HATE FFVII. It has flaws, but it's playable. Though because of the time it was made, it needs a remake because, let's be honest, the 3D models are hideous.

There's a reason many developers choose the 8-bit look and zero choose the "Playstation that-vaguely-resembles-a-human" look.

No, it's the same game. FF: mystic quest is a "side game", isn't an official Final Fantasy. Apart from the name, it shares nothing in the series

There's nothing particularly "emo" in Final Fantasy VII. That's something people started preaching around after watching Advent Children botch Cloud's personality and make him a wimping shadow of his former self.

Final Fantasy VII is a product of its time, surely - it's often too silly for its own good, and the miriad graphic styles never merge cohesively. The translation was also pretty lousy. HOWEVER, underneath the rough surface there's a gem of a game that is super fun and at times, quite thought-provoking. The materia system is certainly broken, but it's a blast to play around with and try different combinations. There's an obscene amount of extra content to keep you busy, and the game's always trowing new situations, minigames, set-pieces and boss encounters to keep you entertained. It's great fun.

Never played Mystic Quest, but isn't it the game everyone loves to hate because it was made by an american company and has nothing to do with the real series?
Mystic Quest was a kids game, a "Babies First RPG" type of thing. You can kill the last boss with life spells. It wasn't a bad game, and I know several people who couldn't grasp Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Faxanadu, Secret of Mana, Crystalis... Yet, they understood Mystic Quest which set them up to learn all those games, and of course Chrono Trigger.

Paladin's Quest was also a "Babies First RPG", and one of the finest.

No, you're still wrong. The game you're talking about that was actually the first game in the Seiken Densetsu was on the Game Boy. In Europe, it was released as Mystic Quest. The game that's ACTUALLY named Mystic Quest is a SNES RPG, not a Game Boy ARPG. Here, look for yourself.

I don't honestly understand why someone would troll fanboys without legitimate facts. All babs has to go on is personal opinions and symantics at best. If I go out bashing something I tend to try and have legitimate facts to back up my argument. I've seen no such truths here.
Thats why I bring you the best FF character ever made. STEINER!
Also he got the best love interest in the series also.

Having an opinion you disagree with =/= trolling.

If I ran in here saying Dragon Quest was better than Final Fantasy, THAT would be trolling, even if it is true. It would still be a valid opinion, but it would be entirely off-topic and be made solely to frustrate.

Simply disagreeing with somebody does not make them a troll.
