i did have this problem initially, disabling my 2nd monitor allowed it to start, then continued to work even after re enabling the other one.

Could you be more specific about the crash ?
What steps have you done to make it crash ?

I have started the game up, and then before the game will even start to load it crashes. Sadly i do not have a second monitor or anything. its the lancher itself that is crashing.

So you click on the Steam shortcut of FF7, the launcher starts then crash directly ?
Does it display an error message ?

As soon as i hit play from the launcher, the game launches, then crashes before visually appearing, and the launcher returns

Its like the launcher itself is what is crashing? I click on the shortcut from my steam libary and it goes into "Loading Game" then i get the error of it crashing.

Just a question, what kind of user account are you using on your windows ?
Have you an admin / standard / guest user ?
Do you have your documents folder in a shared network ?

Admin user account, with windows 7 64 bit, and no documents folder in shared network

On my laptop (which runs Vista 32 bit), the game starts and plays okay, but it will occasionally crash either after a battle animation or when going to the world map (the latter brings up "An unknown exception occured" dialog box first). This usually crashes my entire computer too, forcing me to manually restart. The weird thing is, I wasn't having this problem at all in the first week since I bought the game. Maybe something updated that made the game less stable.

Did you ever solve the crashing problem? I have the same problem; it starts to load and then terminates.

Yes i did, verify game cache

I've tried that several times with no issues, I've reinstalled a few times too. Nothing seems to work. :(

Strange, let me think a bit

I'm running win 7 pro 64bit, i7 4770k and gtx 780.. not sure if that information is helpful or not. Thanks for the help!

Has anyone ever thoroughly uninstalled the game? After clicking "Delete Local Content," be sure to delete the data saved in My Documents (look for a folder labeled "Square Enix"). Be sure to back up your save data unless you want to start from the beginning. After removing all the game data and reinstalling the game, most of the problems I had were fixed. The occasional crashes I've had may just be a compatibility issue with my computer.
