Uh, how do you run away (in battle)?
I got attacked from behind. In the PS version, you can tap the shoulder buttons to run away and your characters will face your opponents and take less damage. How do you run away in this game? I can't see any relevant button in the controls.

It'd be good if you mentioned if you were using a controller or a keyboard.

Keyboard: page up and page down are the L1 R1 defaults.

Thank you much!

Sorry, JunoH315. I guess I should have included that, but really I was looking for was what the computer calls the button. From that it is easy to extrapolate to whatever your controller setup is.

why would you run away from a battle at all?

Maybe because one of the powers is based off how many times you run away? Monsters not worth the time?

Well, like I said in the original post, you can use it to get your characters facing opponents when you are attacked from behind. This reduces the damage you take. All you have to do is tap the run away buttons.

im using a 360 controller and I can't find the button combo to run away. I dont much enjoy taking critical damage from back attacks...

Page up and Page down (default keys and functions that any buttons are mapped to) at the same time.

nevermind... I see now that you can adjust controller settings from the start up menu before you load the game

The default buttons when using a 360 controller are to press RB (right bumper) and Select (the button to the left of the home button) at the same time.
Re: "Why would you want to run from battle?" - There's also an enemy skill called "Chocobuckle" just outside of Midgar at the chocobo farm that multiplies its damage based on how many times you've run from battle. It's can be a pretty devasating spell early in the game!
