Main Menu cursor keeps moving!
Anybody know why this is?
The cursor keeps moving up and down really fast. Even if I time my selections right and get to the game, my character just keeps moving in one direction. My directional keys aren't stuck or anything.

Jan 1 2023 Edit: Seems this is still getting comments years later.
TLDR? Unplug peripherals from USB. Some had headphones that caused the issue, and at the time, I had laptop with a wireless mouse dongle causing the issue.

Unplug any pads or at least make sure their sticks aren't tilted.

Ok, If i unplug ps3 pad, it works, but my pad was working before the "boost" mode enable ...

After some tests, i found that was a stick tilted in windows pad configuration, weird, after recalibrating them, it's good. Thanks.

Just checked if I did have anything connected and I forgot I tried syncing my Wiimote awhile ago and the computer still had it recognized. Took it off and worked, thanks a lot!

I have no game pads setup. This it what worked for me.

1. Unplug my keyboard.

2. Start FF7.

3. Plug keyboard back in and the cursor seems to work fine after.

I have not tested extensively yet, if i run into any more problems i will update. it seems i have to do this every time i start the game though.

This fix didn't work for me. Any other ideas?

Sorry, this was the only thing that managed to work for me. when i leave my keyboard plugged in and start the game, it skips the intro scenes and goes directly to the keymapping. after i hit the "ok" button the cursor won't stop moving. It's like a button is being held down. If i start the game with the keyboard unplugged, i get all the intro scenes and logos. I plug it in after 30 seconds or so and it's fine until i close the game. Also, i have a usb keyboard if that makes any kind of difference.

Some 3rd party devices register as game pads. This error is present in the original 1998 version of the game as well. My webcam was registering as a game device. I had to unplug it to make the game work. Calibrating all your controllers also helps.

I hope they push a patch for this, I shouldn't have to unplug a device just to get the most common of commands working.

I had the same problem, turned out to be a Targus Bluetooth adapter I had plugged in for my Wiimote

Could you maybe explain this to me because I do not have a clue what this means

Use the properties of your controller in the controll panel to run the calibration tool for your controller, best done by unplugging, then plug back in while controller is left sitting on a flat surface then run the calibration tool, make sure all buttons and dead zones are functioning properly.
