I can't find anything specific to this other than a few suggestions that some files may be corrupted or incomplete. I would start by verifying your cache. (A lot of places seem to show this particular error for people not running legitimate copies. If you aren't running a legal copy, do buy one.)

same here just bought it on Steam legitimately. I tried verifying the game cache as well and that didn't work. So reinstalling as we speak.

Is there anything more specific in the error code?

Okay.. with a little bit of digging---

Ar eyou guys running a realtime antivirus? If so, check to see if anything was quarantined. Double-check the game's folder ..\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\ You should see a few executables in there, what ones do you have?

Are you guys running Windows 8?

k if ur running mcafee it could be qarantining the file. turn off mcaffee real time scanning, unquarantine the item then u can play the game. but if u turn it back on (the real time scanning that is) itll take the item away again so u have to play without real time scanning in order to play that game.

My folder doesn't show any exe files. Where would they be quarantined to, and how do I stop it?

Windows 7 and using he FF7_Launcher.

Depends on what anti-virus you have.

At what point are you getting Error Code 2 (and is it the same Error Code 2 that these guys are getting?)
SammyJ Jul 4, 2013 @ 3:01am
silly question but how do you unquarantine an item?

The Mcafee solution worked for me thanks. But I'm having another issue so I need to restart.
