I bought FF7 when square re-released it a little while ago, and I'm just wondering if anyone knows if we are able to use the key that we got from square's store to activate the game on steam?

you can re-download months after purchase - it is kinda hidden though:

(NA people may just change the eu to na)

Then input your square enix log in details and it will list the games you have bought - here is your ffvii key and a link to the download. I bought it on release day last year and have used the link a few times including last week to re-download with no issues at all.


I do think we should get Steam keys though - if it appeared on steam WITHOUT integrated achievements then it doesn't matter, but because they have integrated them then we should be entitled to a key or at least send the keys to steam so we can redeem our existing keys on steam

That link does nothing, After you login you can go to your profile and see your items, but you can not download from there. If you need to download, try this one. That is the one I got when I did my purchase like 2 weeks ago: www.findmyorder.com

Problem is that you have limited installs (3 I think) so eventually you wont have access to your game.

Tha'ts why I rebought the game on Steam. I had reached my activation limits.

I issued a ticket to Square-Enix that my download link has been expired, and that i am not able to download the game. That either they give me a new download link, or perhaps supply a steam key. This was their response:

So like I said before, how can I download FF7 from your wonderfull rockstable customer service oriented userfriendly online platform which hosts FF7 exclusively, and will never come on steam (because steam as we know always has errors and expired download links... NOT)

A really pissed off customer who paid money for an exclusive game that he can't download, and probably needs to buy again on steam to be able to actually download it again...

Square Enix was never a good company, Sqaure before the merger however was a good company... they lost their way years ago

I second this! Square soft were a very good company if not, the best. Even Enix was doing allrite for themselves at the time. And since the merger, everything went downhill!!

I feel this is only the beggining too, watch them when/if they actually do remake these classic titles, they will probably destroy them!
