Emerald Weapon
Any tips for defeating the Emerald Weapon? Combinations of materias, strategies, anything that can help, i'm with Cloud, Cid and Barrett, all level 99 and limit level 4, I was using the strategy of using the "Final atack" materia combined with the phoenix until now, when Barret die, he heals everyone 100%, but it’s not working very well, this weapon is killing me like a bit ** and yes, I also have Knight of the round and W-summoning, after I get it I will appear here again to ask for tips to kill Ruby

One strategy I would recommend is to make sure any character's max HP is at 9999, only equip 2 materia on said character so when Emerald Weapon uses its "Aire Tam Storm" (materia backwards), it'll do exactly 2222 damage to the character. If done correctly, you should get their HP down to exactly 7777.

Any character that has exactly 7777 HP at any time will automatically enter a status known as "All Lucky Sevens" which has them attack for 7777 damage multiple times in a row, which is useful for those tough bosses.

Emerald Weapon is actually easy enough that it can be beaten legitimately with a sufficiently leveled team and moderately strategic use of materia, but the internet is otherwise chock-full of instant win strategies. It's Ruby Weapon that you basically must cheese to beat.

make sure you have plenty of the elixers that heals the intire party. it took a while but i maxed kor, knights of the round, enough every one had it. beefed up all there power levels and protection. thats how i beat both of them. emeraled was easy ruby was harder but got the job done. it helps to use 1 for healing but be ready to use someone else when needed. as wrecks said emeraled is easy but ruby has an arsenal of devestating attacks.

If you are at that point you probably either have Mega-All or can run and grab it real fast from Northern Cave. Do that and pair Final Attack with Revive (mastered Life 2). It is far superior as it is uses less MP (important since Emerald Weapon drains MP) and it has no cast limit like Phoenix. Also, it doesn't heal Ruby Weapon who absorb's phoenix summon's fire element so you can keep the configuration.

It would be ideal to grab and pair MP Absorb matiera ( https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/MP_Absorb_(Final_Fantasy_VII) how to get) with Cut materia/Slash-All or best of all Master Command (mega-all equipped somewhere for Slash/D.Blow all if eyes are out or just 4x Cut whatever). That will make running out of MP nearly impossible.

Learn E.Skill Big Guard (has haste + barrier + magic barrier for cheap MP cast and casts on all party in one use).

Optional but makes you really OP with the above tips - Have W-Item + 1x Hero Drink (duplicate to 4x, or even 3x tho you get an extra 10% from the 4th use... maxes at 4x per character in a battle). It boosts stats by 30% per cast (hence 10% last use cause caps at +100%, also this goes beyond the normal 255 stat cap allowing insane stat cap of 500 otherwise impossible to get).

With the hero drink method you could honestly just go into the fight with Cloud's limit break Omnislash, use 4x hero drink, big guard, and then Omni-Slash + mime spam and finish the battle insanely fast. (Hero drinks actually make physical attacks on Ruby viable if base stats are high enough, its OP).

The Air Tram or w/e attack that may seem to do 9999 damage is based on # of materia equipped. Equip less materia to a character to take way less damage (IIRC its 1111 x # of materia used and dmg reduction doesn't work on it).

Underwater materia is completely unnecessary for this fight, even if doing it at like level 40 unless you are really struggling spending immense amounts of time healing, dealing subpar damage, etc.

Bring characters with multi-hit limit breaks as you already are, so you got that part done. In fact, you got the strongest three characters in the game in your party (excluding Caith Sith's instant victory lame limit break).

You do not need all of these tips, these are just different ways to optimize it.

i like using knights of the round combined with quadra magic. Yea, you use alot of magic, but it also does alot of damage.

Using mime too is a great move. Put them on all three character's..have 1st character cast W-summon knights of round, then have everyone pick mime..rinse..repeat.

ok, im going to try this method. Having lucky 7 is a great idea. I hate that move AIRE TAM STOM and it usually kills me because he spawns it about halfway thru the fight.

For some reason, emerald weapon is giving me more issues than ruby weapon did. I guess because of the annoying AIRE TAM STORM move.

Lucky 7777s is really very unneccessary and actually inferior to the options above I gave. The easiest options involve Cut/Slash-All/D.Blow all (Mega-All) materia even not mastered (one of three materias total so at least two chars can slash-all/d.blow all and the other can 2x Cut). if you got Master Command that is also an option.

When you have a limit break you can spam Omnislash via Mime until you need to heal (use hyper to refill fast). Once you use an item repeat the basic attack commands until you can mime Omnislash or other limit break again (works only for the character who has it, skip the other characters for limit break mime until you can't mime it).

W-Item 3-4x Hero Drinks to make it very easy.

As for Air Tram... I already explained it above.

Lucky 7777s does work but requires more effort to setup, is dependent on having your max HP actually be that else you will lose it upon getting hurt and does inferior damage to what I already mentioned.

Yes i noticed the setup was a bit more complex..but i did it, and then i hit a omnislash with cloud and then emerald weapon seemed to die..lol. Keeping lucky 7's was annoying too, but i stayed in it enough to kill off emerald weapon, espcially doing some limit breaks afterwards:

Congrats! Most of the superbosses aren't too bad in FF games, excluding FFXII's Yiazmat (very doable... just need to know what you are doing before the fight and it is very... very... VERY long fight) and Ozma in FFIX (prob the hardest boss in the entire main series unless you abuse the AI script at which point it is laughable).

Ozma, hard??? lol... Someone never went friendly monster hunting.

Yans aren't that hard. They just have crazy stats. Fortunately, they aren't particularly deadly offensively unlike Ozma's extremely dangerous AoE curse attack, Meteor, or the fact that it can spam Curaga repeatedly (both issues people avoid via the AI abuse trivializing what would otherwise be a vastly more challenging fight). You can even become virtually unkillable to Yan if you got auto-regen and high enough stats, a strategy that would not work on Ozma if not abusing its AI (say you didn't know about the AI trick or they had made the AI better).

You can also permasleep Yans basically, and abuse it with Instant Death effects (of which there exist a ton of options there) making them a virtually zero threat fight.

I will say tho, Yans are a hilarious unexpected surprise to anyone unfortunate to unknowingly get into a fight with them the first time.

Biggest thing to remember with Emerald is the more Materia you have equipped the harder it's gonna nuke you.

Tbh I don't get this either.. i've killed Ozma several times and it's only wiped me like twice.. maybe I just got lucky or something but i've never experienced that crazy unfair RNG the boss is apparently famous for.

Setting up Auto-Haste, Auto-Regen, Auto-Life and various other support abilities in addition to having Quina in your party basically turns even Ozma into a complete joke with the right setup.
