Secret Duel?

So I did some googling and found out that you can get the final attack after you beat the secret battle duel thing. You need W-Summon, Ultima weapon (for cloud) and his Omni-Slash. I have all of those things equipped, as well as learned and Im not getting the front desk lady to ask me about it. Am I missing something. Q.Q Im trying to get final attack for phoenix to go against ruby.

This is off the top of my head, do you have to go and speak to Dio about it to trigger it? Not sure.

You don't have to do anything to trigger it, besides having the 3 items already.

All you need to do is speak to the girl behind the counter and she's supposed to say something about how you're a really strong fighter and ask you about the secret duel. :S

You also need to be on disk 3 I think.

Final Attack materia is not essential for Ruby, it's more a safety net.

I am on disc three and I have talked to her and she says the same thing that she normally does. And I know I don't NEED it but I want it to say I have done it as well as the saftey net feature. XD I have no idea how im gonna kill ruby and emerald. I tried doing the lucky 7's thing but when I did that I did 0 damage 64 times or however many times it was. Im so lost.

How To Access It:

To access the Secret Duel, you have to trade in enough BP for the W-Summon materia and Omnislash, and you need Cloud's ultimate weapon, the Ultima Weapon, which you get from Ultimate Weapon. Cloud is the only party member that can participate in the Secret Duel.

Word of Warning:

The Secret Duel puts you up against Proud Clod with just one character. In this set of battles, you should equip as much materia as you would against a large boss. You might want to use Knights of the Round against Proud Clod (if you have it, that is). I don't recommend using it against any of the other enemies, though, or it'll take you half an hour to beat the 8 rounds. I strongly suggest Magic Plus materia whether you're using KOR or not. This will pretty much guarantee that your spells are doing all the damage they are capable of. Put on as many Counter Attacks as you have, plus Mime (if you have it). That way you can mime however many counter attacks you've done. If you have 4 or less Counter Attack materia, use 4X Cut instead. If you
don't have 4X Cut, I feel sorry for you.

Special Prizes:

The first time you beat all 8 battles, you will be given Final Attack materia. This will allow you to use materia you link it to when you reach 0 HP right before you die. You can hook it up to Revive or Phoenix so that you will be brought back to life when you die. It's pretty much required if you want to beat Emerald Weapon.

Also, you get handy "Dio's Diary" and "Dio's Autograph" consolation prizes, which do absolutely nothing. You can't even sell them.

If you wanna kill Ruby, the minimum amount of materia I was able to do it with was:

Master Summon materia-MP Absorb (So killing Emerald is a pre-req, sorry)
KoR (2 star)-HP Absorb
W-Summon
Magic Plus (just to max damage, may not be 100% essential)

Armour: Mystle
Accessory: Ribbon

If you have 4-5 materia you want to level, use Cid with Javlin. 5 slots of Double Growth. If you have 1-3, use Cloud with Apocalypse 3 slots of Triple Growth.

Equip a character with the above, and go into a fight near Ruby. Kill off the other two characters and flee/finish the fight. Don't bother putting materia on the other 2 - they will stay dead in the Ruby fight so will gain 0 EXP/AP

Heal up the only living character, and save.

Enter the Ruby Weapon fight. Ruby will immediately plunge its claws into the ground and 2 tenticles will pop up behind you. W-Summon KoR, cast the first instance on the tenticles and the second on Ruby. If you hit Ruby first it can counter by removing the caster from the fight. Game Over.

If Ruby pulls its claws out of the ground, hit it with both casts before it puts its claws back into the ground. If it does, again hit the tenticles with the first cast and Ruby with the second.

I'm trying to get a reliable strat for Emerald down, but I have found 3 bugs in the materia system that is preventing me from eliminating luck from the strat.

EDIT: You can get Master Summon materia without being Emerald, but you'll need to master every summon twice to get the Materia Overlord achievement.

EDIT 2: If you want to use Lucky 7, I think you can do this by going in with 2 characters dead and have some way to get to 7777, usually chocobuckle.

I said ♥♥♥♥ it to the special battle. I got too irritated with it and gave up. However I went ahead and fought Emerald and Ruby last night and beat them both! Both took about 10ish minutes so it wasnt too bad. Now all I need to is get Materia Overlord. But atlas I am having trouble with that as well. I got all of the materias mastered and everything but Still no go. I found that if you learned something for E skill and after the battle it will give it to you but that still didnt work. Nothing I did worked. :/ Oh well. In due time I will get it. Oh I even used a save editor and put ALL of the materias that were there and tried it that way. I guess now that I am thinking about it maybe try it again and do one thiung that is easy to master and see if that works. I dunno. >.<

I bet you are missing one, or it's not mastered, or you haven't got a full mastered set PLUS a set of Master materia...

I dont even know anymore. Like I said I even edited all the materias in so i know I wasnt missing any.

If you haven't done the Special Battle you are missing Final Attack materia. If you haven't mastered everything twice or alternatively beating Emerald, you are missing the 3 Master Materias.
